Nice effort this past week/weekend by the Aggies. Didn't lay down vs. the Horns. If Johnson can continue to play solid the A&M "O" looks to be unstoppable next year. But 'Ships are won with D.....so Sherman NEEDS to shore that up.
Awesome endings to Sat. Nite games. Was working the remote like a Mother! Vols over Cats in OT, LSU over Hogs in OT, Dawgs holding off Techsters late game rally, & the Stanford Tree Huggers putting a nail in the C.Weis coffin by scoring late, then holding off the Irish!
And while all this was going on got to see the Red Wings beat the Blues in a shootout!!! Yes indeed, Sat. Nite Live on the Sports Networks was phantastic!!!

Totally agree Dr. C! We also need to work on special teams too!
Let's just hope our performance at whatever bowl game is good!
Go Nebraska!

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Notre Dame fired coach Charlie Weis on Monday after a string of disappointing seasons that was capped by an agonizing four-game losing streak.
Stoops says no Scout.com: Bob Stoops to Notre Dame? Don't count on it. The Oklahoma coach on Monday emphatically denied rumors he would be the coach in South Bend.
Athletic director Jack Swarbrick announced the decision, saying in a news release: "We have great expectations for our football program, and we have not been able to meet those expectations."

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Bobby Bowden says there will be an announcement on his coaching future at Florida State on Tuesday.
The 80-year-old coach met with Florida State President T.K. Wetherell and athletic director Randy Spetman for an hour Monday.
"We talked about my future here at Florida State," Bowden said at a Monday booster luncheon. He didn't elaborate.

This is NOT the way Bowden wants to go out....but I'm not sure having your asst. coach having MORE control than you is the way to go out either. My advice, no shame in biting the bullet & walking out the door now Bobby. Any REAL knowledgeable football fan knows Bowden is 1 of the all-time greats & will forever have his place in bringing college football to where it is today, regardless if he calls it a career under theses circumstances.

Re: 2009 NCAA Football
It's terrible that it's come to this for FSU and coach Bowden and I'm sure some of it's due to Bobby's stubbornness and wanting to get back on top one last time. Listening to sports radio today here in the Jax area makes me sad about the whole situation. I'd like to see how the change is gonna be but there's a part of me thinks he should stay one more year. I don't like the idea of a limited role...sounds like a slap in the face to me. I'm not sure I like this "coach in waiting" mess but at the same time I can't wait to see what Jimbo Fisher can do, who he'll hire etc. My fear is that Jimbo might be FSU's Ron Zook.

They could have let Bowden stay 1 more year. Dude knew there wasn't gonna be anything left in the tank after that. But FSU brass showed no class by making public their ultimatum of giving up majority of his decision making in order to stay that final season. Frankly, I hope FSU falls BIG TIME next season!

I just saw it on ESPN. Bowden retiring. Can't blame him for not wanting a limited role after being the head coach 34 years.

Re: 2009 NCAA Football
ain't like they have a long way to go now... Bobby was done 3-4 years ago, it just takes longer to show up in college football than 3-4 botched heart transplants in a row. And he really didn't help the situation with his wife challenging the brass to try to take him down.Dr.Corona wrote:Good call S.O.B.!sonofabeach wrote:It's terrible that it's come to this for FSU and coach Bowden and I'm sure some of it's due to Bobby's stubbornness and wanting to get back on top one last time. and stunningly (because I saw the box score, it's not like the 1-AA gets any coverage unless you have the "everything college football, down to Paterno's daily BM" package), that game was a lot more interesting than the keen defensive battle the final score showed. UofM was down, and came back midway thru the 3rd and lit them up for 6 straight scores. Could be their year for championship #2.

That bites, as I already snagged tix for Mike Ilitch Bowl when rumor popped up about ND/CMU matchup. Now it's looking like Middle Tennessee State vs. Ohio U or Temple!

Re: 2009 NCAA Football
That's what I'm hearing, tool. GMAC Bowl has first pick of MAC teams this year, so they'll likely take Friday's winner, with the loser headed to the Pizza Bowl. But until all the back-room deals are done, I can't say for sure. I'd love to play ND in a bowl though.Dr.Corona wrote:Been hearing chirping that Chips don't want to go back to Detroit Bowl.
