Speaking on behalf of myself (a veterinarian) and a very dear friend (a physician), I can say that that is entirely presumptuous. Many of us struggle the same as everyone else. In my field right now, we have lay offs because when discretionary income goes down so does spending on pet care. In my the medical field, young doctors struggle mightily with student debt. We are not all in the same metaphorical boat.

That said, you're probably right when you bring surgeons and such into the picture. GPs? Not so much.

The surgeries were too quick and too intense to listen to music.
Oh, yeah. C-sections are intense!

I do have a playlist all lined up for if I ever have a baby. And there's much Jimmy there!

How about Despearation Samba?

Do I take this last step or turn myself around?

I don't like where I'm going; I don't know where I've been.
There may be no exit, but hell I'm going in.

Had a radiologist ask if she could borrow my brand new Meet me in M'ville cd while she did my MRI. I got it on my lunch hour - she was on her way to get it after her shift.

Les made me several JB cd's for the birth of Evan. We had to go c-section - but he still thought he would ask if they would play the jb music - they said no. I got "Peaches & Herb" Reunited.... But now that I think about it - I was kind of "Reunited" with my son..... :) I'll give them that one - but I still would have preferred my Buffett Ballads!!!!

Just saying that I don't know any doctors who own boats or planes. I do know a good handful who have been laid off recently and a ton who struggle to make ends meet due to rising education costs, etc. Granted, vets aren't physicians and we certainly aren't paid like them (and that is what most of my experience is from) but some the physicians that I know are struggling, too. A very good friend of mine who went to med school rather than vet school is a resident now and barely gets by. Young doctors or small-time GPs face huge challenges. The part at the end was making the point that you're probably right about human surgeons and such, though - but I wouldn't know about that. I don't know any human surgeons.

This is what I meant: My wife works with alot of doctors, about 70% of them like Buffett alot. And of them, about 90% have a boat and a few have pilots licenses as well. I'm not presuning anything.

Huh. I would not have guessed that. Cool.

I guess I just know younger docs! Good to know it gets better! (I always presumed it did, based on the numbers and the rep, but the young ones I know have it a bit rough, so...anyway...glad to know it gets better!)

Yes, they are all established doctors into their 40's and 50's.

I thought I posted this earlier, but I don't see it.. must have pushed the wrong key or something...

Here goes again:

I was getting prepped for surgery about three years or so ago, and the nurses and doctor were all busy getting things together, business like, but very cheerful at the same time. I wasn't really conscious of what exactly was playing on the system... that is until they were about to put me under.

I said "Hey! Wait a minute here! You're about to put me under and you're playing "Stairway To Heaven" on the sound system???!!!"

Everyone in the O.R stopped for about one second, then completely lost it! :-D

If I'm having an operation, it really doesn't matter what I like playing on the system whatsoever. What matters is what the DOCTOR likes. I want them to be happy and relaxed. I mean... THEY'RE the ones with the knife!!!!! :-D
