Favorite Versions Of Concert Songs

Post by ChzHeadParrothead »

Hey guys!! One of the big reasons I love collecting Buffett concerts is because even though you get a lot of the same songs, there are for many reasons (different personnel , added verses, acoustic sets, etc.) many different versions of the songs we love. I thought maybe we could start a topic listing some of our favorite versions of Buffett songs from specific concerts. I know I haven't heard every version of every song from every concert, so I'll get the ball rolling with a few of my favs!!

Havana Daydreamin'--6.28.97 Alpine Valley--The bass on this version just seems to be better than the rest....

The Wino And I Know--9.20.03 Las Vegas, NV--Love this version...Jimmy and Mac only

Mañana--11.05.01--Atlanta, GA--Philips Arena--Just Jimmy and Robert on the pans...cool version!!

I was at that show... My best friend had just moved to Vegas---and I took him to that show.. In the 25+ shows I have been to that is in the top 3. I believe that night he also played It's Midnight and Im Not famous Yet.
Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.

Here are a few of the ones I really enjoy...

Reggabilly Hill (Acoustic) 8/30/2008 Bristow,VA
Just love the acoustic version.

Once in a Lifetime 7/28/2007 Alpine Valley,WI
(I was at this show, and the crowd went ballistic when they realized what song it was and Jimmy sounded so excited his voice started to crack at the end when he said "My God, are we having fun tonight or what?"

A Pirate Looks at 40/Redemption Song Live in Anguilla
I just love this version for some reason and I'm a big Bob Marley fan which helps but this version I just enjoyed more.

I love his acoustic show from East Hampton, Long Island on 10/13/01 when he played "Life Is Just A Tire Swing" and went into "Jambalaya." Great stuff!!!

Speaking of acoustic, from the same month he did a song from his youth called "Crocodile." Awesome!! (Lulu's, AL 10/3/01)

If anyone wants either of them, send me a PM.
