However, those would make good posters, without the CORNHOLE bit.
Here you go, Ducky.

Oh so you take offense what I described as having seen repeatedly.

It is what it is. Maybe you should be offended. If you read what I posted it wasn't all NEGATIVE.

I guess I had another kind of cornhole in mind
I had never seen people playing cornhole either. Until I went to see Jimmy in Cincinatti about 5 years ago Wow! It was everywhere! I think it must be a Midwestern thing. But people were having a great time. Never seen it in the Northeast or the South or the Northwest.

We have a tournament every year at our family reunion. :D It has taken the place of the horseshoe game we used to play every year.

As far as I know none of us belonged to a sorority....

We always take a game on our camping trips too. I LOVE your boards! Your Dad did a great job!

I take offense to some of your posts in this forum, mainly because they are always of the same tone...rude and condescending toward someone.

And the game is nothing of what you describe. Have you performed some sort of statistical regression analysis based on people playing the game to determine if they are a frat boy or a "fat sorority chick"? No, you haven't. You just like to generalize, stereotype, and make broad assumptions about things.

I was never a frat boy, my beautiful wife was never a fat sorority chick, and we are both young professionals in our 30's in excellent physical shape. We really enjoy the game and so do many of our friends who fit a similar profile. As I said, sorry you don't approve of the game and it doesn't fit your liking, but then again, I am not sure there is anything you like other than being miserable and snide. At least that is what I gather from the context of your postings.

I have nothing personal against you, and I hope that if we ever cross paths at a concert, we can set aside our differences, say "nice to meet you", and have fun. Just look for the frat kid playing cornhole at Alpine Valley on August 29th...you're bound to find me.

What I've seen. That's what I talked about. It's easy to figure it's like that in the college towns I've been to where I've seen it being played at music clubs. That's been the observation - and like USA Today's polls that say that the country thinks this or that based on 327 people polled...

So yeah, I generalized. Considering the shape of this country though I was accurate. But I'm sure that is not everyone that plays that game.

Gee and I have generalized that most of your comments are usually negative. From what I have seen.

I just wanted to post what my Dad made me for one of my birthday gifts. I wanted to post them to give you all ideas, and also because he was pretty proud of his work. The posters he bought off of the Margaritaville website and he then painted the rest of it and covered it all in a sealant to protect it from deteriorating from dampness or getting wet. They will be at Alpine, so feel free to stop by!
Do you know what kind of glue and sealant he used? I am working on a set now and I am getting bubbles from the glue. I also am not sure polyurathane will work as a sealant on the posters.
Thanks
Tom

The glue he used to glue the posters onto to board itself was Gorilla Glue. The sealant or coating used was Envirotech High Gloss Finish Lite Pour On Polymer Coating. According to the label on the container, one coating of this stuff is supposed to equal 50 coats of varnish. We've played a few times and it works just like any ol' board in my opinion and doesn't affect the bags. It doesn't bounce any more or less in my opinion. He put in on to protect it from dampness and so forth. Or like in any scenario the wear and tear from beer or any other liquor spilling on it. I'm not sure how it deals with vomit, but I'm hoping it doesn't get to that point!

Got your pm thanks. The Envirotech doesn't surprise me, I was thinking of using it. I have seen it used to cover photos on wood. The big surprise to me is the gorilla glue. I did not think it would work well with the posters. I have used it on wood and plastic and it seems to expand. I am going to try it on a sample before I do the boards. Thanks again for all your help.

PackerPhan,
Loving the cornhole game with posters. Ironically, i was searching the internet looking for margaritaville posters to do the EXACT same thing, browsed images for the posters and BOOM there was yours. We have a couple questions though. What materials did you father us to glue/secure the poster to the boards and which sealant did he use?
Thanks in advance!

This was a couple of years ago, and the boards are still holding up. The only thing that we could have changed is the surface covering the posters. It is a little slick and the bags tend to slide down too much. So we could of used some other material or maybe used something along the lines of sand and then put the coating down to make the bags stick better. But overall they work well, and I hope to bring them to Alpine again......whenever it gets announced!
