As for songs, I don't know how religious you and your family are, but I always found "Happily Ever After Now and Then" to be a cool way to live and a very mellow tune. I am also fond of "I have found me a home" and feel as though that would be a pretty moving song.

Regardless, I'm sure that whatever you choose will be appropriate and fitting. Trust your heart and head and best of luck in the coming days, months and years.

First and formost, please allow me to say how sorry I am about your uncle. We just experienced the death of a close family friend this weekend (eleven years old, killed in a freak boating accident) so I understand that this is never an easy thing to go through.

Can't think of any good Buffett funeral songs, but when we lost a family member last year, his kids went through his ipod and made a playlist of his favorite songs. It was a very nice tribute.

Maybe you could do something like that.

My friend passed away last year and had Live in Anguilla playing during the committal and the reception.

My father passed away on Memorial Day this year and when the funeral home asked if there was a specific song we wanted for the photo slide show, my husband and I immediately replied at the same time with "I Have Found Me A Home". It was a song that always reminded us of him and when it was played with the photos, so many friends and family commented on how fitting the song was.

Depending on how "hip" your uncle was, the 3 I have listed for my own are: Lovely Cruise, Defying Gravity and Take Another Road. God bless your uncle. I really do hope he had "a lovely cruise" here. But his journey's really now just "taking another road..."

I'm sure that no matter what songs you choose, they will be appropriate and your uncle will appreciate the effort and love you put into selecting them. As others have said, please stick around. We may be a bit left of center, but we're a great bunch.
