This sounds like a great drink! I guess I will be making a trip over to Whole Foods! LOL!
I am a little bummed, Zico is not available in my area
From what I've heard, VitaCoco and O.N.E. Coconut water are similar to Zico. Might want to check those out if you can't get Zico.
I've been researching coconut waters, and looking around for them. I see Vita Coco and Zico are available at Amazon (didn't check ONE, but I bet they are too), but I wanted to find it locally to try it before buying a case. They get mostly rave reviews for their healthy hydration benefits, and as a post workout beverage of choice. And some seem to just like that coconut water reminds them of island vacations.

The reviews seem to steer me to Vita Coco, and I like their website: http://www.vitacoco.com/index.html "Get ready for your 2-minute hydration vacation." They also list being available in Target stores, but mine didn't have any. There are nearby SuperTarget's that I may have to look into.

So, after calling around, I found a store with ONE, and I will be picking some up today, so I can try a "JIMMY JUICE" tonight! :D [smilie=battingeyes.gif]
Thanks for that link....I am going to go find me some Coconut water tonight. It is supposed to be mega hot this weekend in Chicago, I am going to have to mix one up

Right now, sitting on the deck listening to some Jimmy, Bob Marley and Jack Johnson....here's my recipe:

3 oz. Sailor Jerry's Rum...any dark rum will do really
half a lime
Coconut water to top up

Fill glass with ice. Squeeze half of lime into glass...toss in squeezed lime. Add 3 oz. rum...or more it doesn't really matter! Then top up with coconut water..sip...oh yeah...you're there! :pirate:

For thos asking about where to find coconut water. The easiest and best is to buy a cocount, crack it open and pour the water into a glass.
Coconuts can be found at most grocery or health food stores accross the country and it tastes much better than the stuff everyone else is reffering too.

I've never cracked a coconut open. What's the best way to do that without spilling the water all over?

You can just usa an ice pick and poke 2-3 holes in the top, then pour.
Or you can take a heavy long knife (machete) and chop at the top to break the top section off.
Or you do what I did as a kid and bang it on the sidewalk untill it cracks.
Cracking a cocount is kind of like eating shrimp....

We always used to use a Philips screwdriver and a hammer. Lined it up on one of the 'eyes', and hit the handle of the screwdriver with the hammer (like using a chisel) to poke it in. Poured out the water (we always called it coconut milk, btw), then used the hammer to break the coconut itself.

Of course, once you've got it open you don't really need to pour it out.

Wow, sounds like the perfect combo. May I ask what kind of rum and coconut water you tried? Thanks!

Went with some amber rum from Appleton Estate and the coconut water was from Brazil (can't remember the name), combine that with the lime-great combo

So how 'much' coconut water we talking here? I don't want to drown out the rum but want to get the right balance. Thanks for sharing the results of your tropical chemistry experiments.

I buy the ZICO coconut water.....for me, I take a 20 oz glass, fill with ice, about an inch of Rhum, and fill with the coconut water, then squueze a slice of lime in, stir and enjoy!

BTW, do NOT try the mango flavored cocnut water with Rhum, it's awful...stick with the plain coconut water.

This looks good....reminds of something Doc Ford (Randy Wayne White) might drink. I love the "natural" ingredients.
