I think the thing with the NFL is, they're willing to put up with parlays but not single game betting in Delaware. A question I do have (since I've never been to Vegas) is does the Vegas sports books allow single game betting?
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

... as I said, never been to Vegas so I don't know even with the lines, if the players had to do multiple bets. :)

Wall Street Journal. I win!!

I haven't looked at the payouts for the Delaware scam, but I suspect that they are not too good compared to Vegas or bookie odds. Sports bettors will tell you that parlay bets are sucker bets. Any state run form of gambling is nothing more than a regressive tax on the people that can least afford it. Look at the numbers the state runs. The state rakes 50% of the take, any casino does that and they would be shut down immediately. The big jackpot lotteries are even worse.

Sports betting is ALREADY becoming the real downfall of sports, and in a sense, our society.
Gambling is an illness right on par with drug and alcohol addiction. I've seen it really tear apart people.

From pro tennis to NHL hockey, each of the major sports are infiltrated with mob activity trying to gain influence.
I begin to question whether any game I'm watching is just a practice of exhibition with a predetermined result "in hand".

I think legalized betting on all pro/college sports should be banned. I know that sounds extreme, but it would work wonders
It will drive the action underground, but the greatly reduced numbers will spare millions and take away the motivation of nefarious influences. I can live with older forms of wagering on the ponies and dogs. heck, it's where I got my start
$#@&...only Vegas again?? Padres ...gotta start believin'!Bring on '14 Spring Training!

Getting rid of legalized sports betting wouldn't do anything. The money would go overseas through on-line resources or underground through organized crime. Smart bettors will not bet in Delaware anyway the odds are horrible. Sports is as popular as it is because of gambling (including fantasy games - many of those are for money also). States look at the gambling and other sins as easy money. Of course the corrupt state of PA, after running the mob out of the bars with their video poker machines is now trying to get video poker back into the bars, of course if they pay the taxes and fees to the state. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mayor Rendell suggest legalization of prostitution before his term finally runs out.

that's funny.. I know two old bookies.. and they told me more than once that
if you were betting "for fun" that the card (Parlay) was the only way to go..
heck.. bet $10 and that's five two dollar cards..

bet by game?? no thanks.. how do I know that the "shave" isn't in??

The parlay is best for them. :) From a gambling site...
Are Parlays Good Bets?
The simple answer is no, especially parlays involving point spreads or totals. The odds of the payoff are much less than the true odds. For example, the true odds of winning a three-team parlay when making point spread wagers are 7-1, while the payoff is only 6-1, and it gets worse as you bet more teams. The true odds of hitting a 10-team point parlay are 1,023-1, while the payoff is generally around 600-1, so a parlay bettor is at a big disadvantage.

Bettors should stick with straight bets, as it's difficult enough to pick one winner, let alone two or more games.
Basicly when you parlay each time you pick an additional team, you sacrifice payout odds.

Sorry I didn't specify: these were old school bookies..
they take bets on games.. just the spread..
no over/under, no total points.. none of the "soft" stuff..

you are right if you want to bet odds the cards aren't that great..
which is why I went O for 4 years.. and then hit 5 weeks in a row
the next year.. the payout?? I went 16 for 16 each time 8) 8) it was over $6000
for each payout..

for the fun factor the cards still make me smile.. 8)
for the possibility if making money?? not so much

Any guesses in what brought he NFL from another league to the most watched sports league in the country. Certainly not the integrity of the participants, it was Gambling. Thats why lines are listed in most every paper in the country. Betting on sports, in in particular football, is here to stay. Are their social problems that come with it....yes. But social issues also exsist in our churches, schools, work places...ect. Handling problems with excessive behavor is not the problem of society. It needs to be a problem addressed by family and friends. To punish everyone in a bar drinking responsibility because one a-hole isn't is not right. Because I enjoy to place a bet on a horse, game or fight does not mean that i am spending money i don't have. I include it into my entertainment budget.
