The Surprise Summer Hit of 1977

Post by txaggirl91 »

Driving back from my folks house today I caught Margaritaville on a radio station.

At the end of the song, Casey Kasem pops in and says "Down from #8 last week to #15 this week, that's Jimmy Buffett with Margaritaville. The surprise hit of the summer of 1977".

#14 was "Undercover Angel"

Wow...Memories!

I happened to be on the beach with my keets for spring break in April 2007 when the pier grill played a Buffett block to commemorate the 30 year anniversary of Margaritaville's release.

I can't believe I first heard that song 32 years ago!!

Of course, there was another hit in the summer of 1977, too...some movie came out or something?

I *WAS* the Captain — at least in my own mind, anyway. I could actually play piano.
