In the current economic climate, it seems it was just a matter of time until we saw a lawsuit like this one pop up. (Recent unemployed law grads, take note).
Trina Thompson, who graduated from Monroe College in the Bronx in April, has sued the school to get her tuition money back. Her claim: the school hasn’t done enough to help get her a job.

For the defense: "Your Honor, this woman came to Monroe College barely able to read this court transcript. Now she knows enough to file suit over lost wages. I ask for an acquittal on the grounds that the college has taught her more than she realized."
this will really help her in her job hunting..... first thing out of her mouth is "i've been wronged" and sues. what employer in their right mind will hire her now? what's next? i didn't get the promotion. I've been wronged i'm suing....
I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

No credible school will guarantee a job. And, if a school does make such foolish promises, go elsewhere. 30 years in college admissions teaches me that you can never make those kind of promises.

It took me 5 years after I graduated college to find a good job (had to work up for it even with a degree)
What is this graduate expecting, especially in a down economy?
I saw this yesterday and it really made me mad. This chick is completely overboard and pretty much screwed herself from ever getting hired by some decent company. Stupid lawsuit, hopefully it gets thrown out.

How did she spend $70k in tuition? The school lists its tuition as $5,472.00 per semester. I do find this amusing. The parents and schools have been failing in teaching personal responsibility and encouraging the nanny state mindset. The suit is absurd but ironic.

She obviously has a problem with math.

Maybe it took her 6+ years to complete a four year degree. She's obviously a moron (or a moran for the internet savvy).
According to the link, she has a valid job offer from something called the "Ski Channel". I've never heard of them before now, by the way.
I think they're just asking for trouble; what happens if the job she is offered is 'entry-level' or slightly above (as it should be), but she doesn't think it's good enough for her? -"BB"-

She should’ve kept her big mouth shut. Now someone is sticking up for the school and throwing down the gauntlet. I wonder if she is going to be a Super Babes of Snow girl. Anyone else notice that pic on their page?

I believe it said her training was in IT. The IT field, or at least the smart people in the IT field, can figure out pretty quickly if you are good at what you do or are a complete bonehead. We shall she what happens in 6 months.
And yes, I noticed those pictures Rich. Wow, there were some fine looking women. I love skiing.

I work with a number of IT boneheads.
And I'm sorry to hear that. Back in "the day", ie 1998-2002, if you could spell IT you could get a job doing it. One of the places I was working had a guy who went from selling phonebooks to selling Internet hosting services. Sales is sales but there is a wee bit of a difference between those two. And I apologize if I have just insulted any phonebook sales people out there.
I work with IT staff from time to time resolving their issues, for the most part I'm a project developer.
When I first started working in IT anyone could get a job (lots of companies were hiring people just to fill bodies in at various companies for the Y2K.... I got hired BEFORE that happened, but I got a LOT of job offers in the first year of my employment that I had to turn down...)
