I just got home from visiting with Vicki in the hospital. She is now in St Paul Cardiac ICU Room 6E, where she will go for recovery after the surgery. I'm sure that flowers and/or cards would be appreciated. The main hospital number is 214-645-5555. You can say "Flower Shop" when asked for the name of the employee or department.

I can't imagine what she is going through, but she is staying strong. Her strength and courage are an inspiration to me. She is in great spirits and even joked about the viagra they gave her yesterday.

Her surgery is supposed to start around 7AM tomorrow, but depending on how it goes it could take up to 8 hours or more. I'll update tomorrow afternoon when I get word on how she's doing. Let's all keep her in our thoughts and prayers.

I also gave her a check for $4500, which is about what we've raised for her so far!

Basically I think it just buys her some time while she waits for a transplant.

Bill, Thank you so much for the Vicki update! She has been on my mind, and especiallly my prayers today. I know she enjoyed seeing you and the $4,500.00 is amazing!!! I know that lifted some of her worries.

An update on Vicki;

Friends and Family -

I just wanted to give everyone an update as I am sure you are anxious to hear some news on Vicki's surgery. Unfortunately, we have not received many updates today on her progress, but she is still in surgery. Apparently, this AM they discovered that she had a problem with a valve on the right side of her heart, so they have repaired that to help the right side out. We are told that because of the valve repair, that the actual VAD procedure didn't start until 12:30pm. However, we are uncertain if the VAD procedure that didn't start until noon was the original LVAD placement OR the 2nd pump for the right side that they talked about placing if the right side was too weak to hold up once they placed the LVAD and took her off the bypass.

I'll send another update once I know more. Keep those prayers and positive thoughts coming!

She is supposed to be released back to ICU, but she is still in critical condition. They are keeping her sedated/unconscious and it will be touch and go for the next 48 hours. I will update when I know more.

I asked if there was anything that I/we could do, and she said they have the family support they need.
