After reading about some of the parking lot thefts at recent shows (and being a victim once), I also said the grill wouldn't stay attached to the vehicle long, but Mr. BP said you could attach it with <some contraption that I can't remember its name>. I passed on the free grill and $399 grill cover so there would be enough for others to purchase.

I got that advertisement too. I saw the grill at the M'ville in Charleston a few weeks ago. It is pretty big and "looks" well built but $400?.....I don't think so. Unless, of course, it comes with a guy in a thong.

We bought a $25 grill for Nissan, put it together at the Thursday show and grilled for two days. It's still standing and waiting for the next road trip.

For another $25 (or equivalent amount in rum), I will gladly be that guy in the thong next year. For all I know, I was this year...just waiting on the pictures for confirmation!

Should you buy it, somehow I have serious doubts as to whether that piece of equioment would still be connected to your vehicle after the show.......

And that is why I have never brough anything that cant be shoved back into the jeep at showtime. maybe im just a little leary of those that dont share in the kindness that most on this board do. If youve been to a Philly or Camden show you know what I mean.
been to Camden and Philly, and know exactly what you mean!

Doesn't have to be Philly or Camden, either. I understand there was a certain amount of pilferage at Alpine too; and I've also heard of stuff disappearing at bicycle rides or other events as well. But what do you expect? A concert, a major bike tour, any large gathering, is a cross-section of society. And as we all know, not all of society is, shall we say, scrupulous?
I always lock up my stuff, even in my own driveway. And for anybody who thinks I'm being paranoid or anything, I refer them to a line from the Lord's Prayer, which I think sums it up best:
"Lead us not into temptation".

I single those 2 shows out becase im a PA. boy so i rag on the home shows for me, and its the only time that when I tailgate that ive actually witnessed crackheads being arrested or the bootleg t-shirt guy running through and hiding from cops in peoples pop up bathroom tents.
I personally havent witnessed this at other venues that ive been at. not saying it doesnt happen just going on my experience.

They had one at Costco last week. I noticed it, and then moved on to the free samples. I saw my dad stopped and looked at it. I then explained it was made by Jimmy Buffett and explained who Jimmy Buffett was. I asked him if he thought it was cheap. He said “it might last for a grilling or two”
We did not purchase one.

I think it was either a hand grenade or C4 that detonates whenever an unauthorized user tries to walk off with the grill.

Ohhhh, is THAT why it's so expensive? Well in that case, maybe it is worth the 400 bucks...
You could also use a locking hitch pin (master makes one for under $20.00) which is what I use to enure my 90 qt cooler and fishing cooler rack don't disappear off the front of my jeep. Most thefts especially in a place like a parking lot occur because of ease and opportunity, if you lock the grill to your receiver hitch then they would have to dismantle the grill to make off with it which is a pretty big deterant.

Those things sound familiar. I tend to tune out when talk turns to things that belong in the garage.
I think I would have remembered grenade or C4, but ya never know!

Good to see I'm not the only one watching Game Day and getting ready for the OSU game... But somehow, tailgating at Nissan this time last week seemed so much more rewarding...

That's cause we are not at the Shoe! It puts any Buffett tailgate to shame.

Okay, I've bought a few Jimmy things in my life. I own two pairs of his flip flops, very well made. I was given the frozen concoction maker as a gift, and am pleasantly surprised how well it works. I don't like his beer or tequila, though and his frozen food, well I make it better from scratch. But those commercials kinda nauseate me. (Gosh, I hope that new album has a couple good songs on it.)

That version of the tune is really something.
And according to that commercial, if I buy one of the grills, a party just breaks out around me. That makes it worth the purchase price.

Sweet yellow stars, what is the world coming to?? You can get a Weber kettle for $100 that WILL last you two days short of forever, and $40 will get you a good bike chain lock to chain it to the bumper until the show ends. hell, for that you can buy 10 Smokey Joes and leave the bloody things at the pkg lot.

For 400 bucks it better come with a nakid male chef in an apron.
And a naked female server for when the food's done
