I hope from the 3rd row that you focus more on enjoying the moments, the eyes, the smiles / facial expressions, the body language, the interactions between the people on the stage, and their interactions with the crowd, than you focus on snapping pictures. I always felt those images last forever in my heart, and I don't want to miss too many of them by trying to capture them in photos.
With that in mind, especially that close, I find all of the people taking pictures and videos to be very distracting and annoying. I can understand trying to snatch a couple keepsakes, but over and over and over throughout the entire show really grates on me, and takes away from total enjoyment of the special circumstances. Some of us really are just there to enjoy the show, and the over zealous can be really frustrating.
With the internet, it's obvious that there are a lot of crazed people out there with cameras. I've seen a lot of amazing photos and videos of Jimmy and the CRB, and I usually enjoy seeing them on my monitor. However, I always hope that no one was bothered or harmed in the making of that movie, er video or photo.

No problem at Philly last year or Camden this year with cameras, but always a problem at Nissan. Smuggle in, whether allowed or not, smuggling always feels better

. No flash"."

Buttholes at Alpine Valley took my disposable camera at the gate last year. Said no cameras.
Meanwhile, I saw plenty of chicks taking cameras out of their purses during the show.
There was probably some confusion of policy between all of the scholarly gate people.

Just called Alpine Valley and listened to a recorded message of what is/isn't allowed inside the venue. Whoever the voice is, he talks way too fast, but the one thing I did hear was that "cameras and video and audio recorders are not permitted".
Since I have a ticket for the lawn, there's no way I'd try to take pictures with anything less than my SLR with the 400-mm telephoto lens, but that's not the sort of thing you can tuck into a pocket, purse, or hip pack and sneak it past the gates. So I guess I'll just have to take photos at the pre-parties and in the parking lot, and then stash the camera and just watch the show.

Yeah, I always get lawn at Alpine. Unless I have tickets within the first five rows, the lawn is the place to be at Alpine.
The worst part about it was the camera was from our day of tailgaiting and was completely spent...there were no pictures left on the thing! Whatever.
Anyway, maybe I will see you at the show and we can chest bump each other in the lawn.

I smuggled in the flip, the p&s and the iPhone, LOL! Well I didn't have to smuggle the iPhone.
I was fine snapping away. I turned off my flash and just waited for the stage to be illuminated enough to prevent blur
I need to download the video (

) and photos still.

From the third row in Atlanta, I was holding up my cell phone for sound on a phone call and I was told to put it down, I said it is a cell phone not a camara, and was told if you hold it up again we are taking it. This was in the middle of the concert, people around kinda of booed the guy but it is what it is, so I put it up. Then in New Orleans at the Marg Cafe, they did a semi search, only skipping the privates, so I guess it depends on where you are and who's minding the store.

Buy a box digital camera and your be fine! Venues and artists frown upon pro cameras ones with detachable lens. Enjoy and share.

Didnt care in Tampa, they REALLY didnt care in Pittsburgh, and didnt care in Detroit.
In Pittsburgh, we were in the 3rd row, and i was snapping away, and during the intermission when One Love was wrapping up, and he sorta crept back onto the stage with Jake, The security guard even let me move up a little and take some pictures in front of the stage since not many people were back in their seats. If i could figure out how to post em i gladly would .

I honestly can't remeber if I ever tried to get a camera into Jones Beach, I have some pics but I think they were from my phone.
