Tinley Park has trouble beating anything. They are Nazi's about tailgating and the sound is mediocre, at best. Toyota Park is a better Chicago venue, but I struggle with not having a lawn at a Buffett concert.

Back in the day, Tinley Park used to have some good concerts, U2, the Grateful Dead, and Springsteen all played there. It was always a hassle to get in and out of there. Now they have problems attracting good shows it seems.

My hometown theatre is Jones Beach. So far I would have to say it is one of my favorite places to see a show, Jimmy or other. As someone else had mentioned though, you really want to avoid the seats up top as the sound quality suffers. Otherwise how can you go wrong watching a show in a threater with water on three sides and an ocean view from almost every seat!

I've only been to 2 out of town venues so far and I had a great time at both of them (though Raleigh was stinkin' HOT!) I'm thinking St Barts might end up being my favorite though maybe even passing my "home" venue of GW!! :D I think whoever said that since your home venue is the most comfortable is right though, I know the ropes around GW and it's all so familiar that it makes it a tiny bit more special. There are a few I still want to get to so Jimmy had better keep touring a bit longer!

Well... I guess my actual hometown venue is St. Louis. And truth is, I hate it.

When Jimmy came last year, the crowd obviously hadn't been to a JB show in a LONG time. Parking lot was pretty dead, windblown, and a long way from the venue. Once inside, it was clear the crowd just didn't get into it like we all do at some other venues. You could tell, too - Jimmy was trying to crank it up, but it was a cool late April, the crowd wasn't doing their part... whole concert was kinda flat.

Also, since it's only 1 1/2 hours away from me, it's not really a good overnight trip - you know where you spend the day of the concert exploring the city, doing fun stuff, and then head to the show.

And.... I'm just not that in to St. Louis.... :-?

Gimme Chicago or Vegas anytime.

My very first Buffett concert (right after 9/11) was at Tinley. I have very fond memories of that concert.

I agree with Frank4 and HD18JBGuy. And I'm betting that nutmeg's positive experience of Tinley is more about the time and/or personal experience than the venue.

I don't have a "hometown venue" when it comes to Buffett shows - he never comes to Buffalo.

Really wish he should though. Ralph Wilson Stadium is one of the top tailgating venues in the country and would make a great spot for a Buffett show.

My home venue is Jones Beach Long Island but I'd say my favorite is the Ford Ampitheatre in Tampa. Can't beat the atmosphere there and the sound quality is first rate. Maybe it's the canopy, not sure but the accoustics are great.
