Durham group threatens speeders with paintballs

DURHAM -- Residents with paintball guns are taking aim at speeders in one Durham neighborhood.

Police say it's illegal, but Zella Alston doesn't mind.

Speeders often fly past her West Markham Avenue home, including one driving an 18-wheeler that knocked down a telephone pole, she said.

Three signs that read "WARNING, Speed Limit Enforced by Angry Neighbors with Paintball Guns" have caused a stir around the Bull City and beyond. The signs -- two at the traffic circle and a third at Roxboro and Knox streets -- went up this past weekend in the Old North Durham neighborhood, just north of downtown.

One of the reasons we live on a short cul-de-sac. Although we still get the occasional speeeder.

Paintballs hell use metal tipped darts with ribbons that say something like.
"I'm too stupid to follow the speed limits"
Cop see's a vehicle with 3 or more of these in it and he pulls them over
and gives them a ticket for being stupid.

1. Now everyone knows why we live at the end of a private road
2. People can now understand that I'm not always the radical one in our relationship.

Plus, if you were to point any kind of gun, paintball, BB, dart, plastic toy, whatever at me, and I draw a pistol and kill you, that would be your fault.

Hence, why I've only considered it.

pffftttt...I've been shot at with a shotgun before for speeding. My friend warned me that if I sped on the shared driveway, his neighbor would shoot me. He was right. What's wrong with this country it's going soft shooting paint. Lead works much better than paint for making a point.

You have a very good chance of that happening in Durham...

Were it not for all the crazies who'd shoot back...I have always loved this idea.
