Jerry Jeff at L'Auberge Casino

Post by springparrot »

Jerry Jeff played at the L'Auberge du Lac Casino in Lake Charles, LA Friday and Saturday. As usual, we saw a great show Saturday night---Jerry Jeff looked like he was having a good time!
And he has another new lead guitar player (as least for the weekend) Chris Gage http://www.chrisgage.biz/
and it looks like Chris can do anything from produce records, play music and COOK. :)
Image
It was a fun time.
I know conched was going Friday night---can't wait to hear what she thought.

The Friday night show was good. THANKS for the great photo, Molly!!!

Jerry Jeff was dancing around and having a good time performing what he WANTED to. The crowd kept yelling out requests and he told the joke about "That's ONE...and the horse tripping..." I could tell he was getting bit frustrated.

Toward the end the crowd was allowed to stand up front and by that time a lot of the folks had left and there were lots of empty seats.

The sound was pretty good. I had seen Chris Gage before when he played with Jimmy Dale Gilmore the Flatlanders and had enjoyed that VERY much. I was very impressed with his peformance with Jerry Jeff.

I thoroughly enjoyed Brad Fordham and his energy and what he has added to Jerry Jeff's shows with that neverending SMILE and energy.

I'll post the setlist as soon as I can decipher what I saved...always LOVE my Jerry Jeff FIXES!! :) :)

The performance was much too short as far as I'm concerned. Sound was pretty good, but there was so much talking and noise that it was hard to understand Jerry Jeff's comments in between songs. Maybe he just wasn't talking into the mic properly??

(Martina McBride will be there next month! I love that casino!)

KK, it was NO cooler in LA until a tiny norther yesterday afternoon while on the river in Natchitoches. IT is a heck of a lot GREENER tho! But goodness, as soon as we got west of I-45...back to dry dry dry.

I was cold the whole time in the casino (in more ways than one) and had to wear a jacket.

I'm sorry you had trouble with the sound, but glad it wasn't just US....we could understand him singing, but not talking. Missed all his jokes and asides....
And yes, we had alot of people around us talking and being slightly 'overserved'. The guy in front of me kept missing his chair. *rolls eyes*

But we got Desperados Waiting for a Train.....it was nice to hear. Chris did a great job on that one.

He does have a new song "Caribbean Moon" that I liked ALOT.

I wish I had remember my jacket---I was freezing in the venue---the outside air sure felt good.

I don't remember Caribbean Moon, but we did get a song that he said he wrote about Livign Down In Belize. He said he wrote it because people are always asking him if he isn't going to just STAY down there.

We also got Those Were The Days as a closer. Super, super piece!!

They also played a Flatlander/Jimmie Dale Gilmore song called Tonight I'm Gonna Go Downtown.
You got one new song, we got another. LOL
We got Those were the days, too.
:)
Ohhh, we got Tonight I'm gonna go to Town but I didn't understand what he said when he introduced it.

Can't wait for the new CD to come out

About Tonight I Think I'm Go Downtown...Not really sure if that was the song Jerry Jeff played. I know it stuck in my head. I know I've heard the Flatlanders and Jimmie Dale play that one...and Nanci Griffith.

I knew the song when he played it, but not sure now if it was the one I'm thinking of.

Was it this one, Molly?

It was alittle different tempo, but yes, I think that was it.

from JJ's facebook page
Chris Gage's birthday today. He's been in the studio with us all week. Is there any instrument this guy can't play?
also
Studio sessions are going great. Chris Wall dropped by last night and laid down a track with us.

Nancy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tchoupitoulas_Street

Tchoupitoulas Street is a street in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. It is the through street closest to the Mississippi River running through Uptown New Orleans. Formerly, the street was heavily devoted to river shipping commerce, but as shipping became more containerized in the later 20th century, more of it became devoted to residential and other commercial uses.

The street starts at upriver side of Canal Street (the other side of French Quarter) and goes through New Orleans Central Business District and Uptown following the curve of the crescent bend of the river before coming to its terminus hitting East Road at Audubon Park. The equivalent street on the French Quarter side of Canal Street is Peters Street. Peters splits into two streets on the Uptown side, one continuing as Peters, and the other as Tchoupitoulas.

In the Central Business District, some renowned hotels (such as Ambassador Hotel and Renaissance Arts Hotel) and restaurants (Emeril's and also Mother's at the corner of Poydras Street and Tchoupitoulas) are located on the street. In Uptown, Tipitina's, a music club, is located at the corner of Napoleon Avenue and Tchoupitoulas. Other stores, restaurants, and clubs are located further up river along Tchoupitoulas, perhaps most famously Hansen's Sno-Bliz.

The name of the street comes from the name of an extinct Indian tribe [1]. The name is pronounced CHOP-it-TOO-luhs.

Molly is that what he used for "T is for ?"

Those Louisiana/Cajun names are hard to say...like Natchitoches...

Natchitoches Pronunciation Assistance needed!!!

Two tourists were driving through Louisiana.

As they were approaching Natchitoches, they started arguing about
the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth until they
stopped for lunch.

As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the blonde
employee, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument for
us? Would you please pronounce where we are...very slowly?"

The blonde girl leaned over the counter and said, "Burrrrrrrr,
gerrrrrrr, Kiiiiing.

The wife and I flew down for both shows. Jerry Jeff was in rare form, seems his back is healed. He even wore boots!

We were in the 8th row Friday and 12th Sat. Saturday was more rowdy, but both were a treat.

Sorry we missed you guys
