Rolling Stone
Does anyone still subscribe to Rolling Stone? It's been a few years for me and I was thinking about re-upping and wondering how it was?

Re: Rolling Stone
I still have a subscription. The magazine seems to have really gone downhill with the new format. I read it once, and that’s it. The recent interview with Ginger Baker was cool (he does not seem to be, but the interview was interesting). I still get the mag, but it isn’t what it used to be.

Re: Rolling Stone
Don't bother...it's less about music and more about politics. I cancelled my subscription when the majority of covers and major stories weren't even about music at all...unless the music fit the magazines political leaning...i.e. Green Day.

Re: Rolling Stone
Go to Wallmart, find the Rolling Stone T shirts (covers on the front of the shirt I have the Johnny Cash one)
You will get a card attached with a free subscription to the magazine.
That way if you don't like the magazine at least you got a T shirt.

Re: Rolling Stone
I agree with everyone else...the new format is not as much about the music as the old one was. However, I still do subscribe because every once in a while, a good article pops up. Like R_B mentioned, the Ginger Baker article. The most recent issue has a good article on the Beatles. I don't mind the political articles, but I would like to see more music...

I can't stomach RS because of the ultra liberal pablum it insists on trying to cram down my gullet.
I'm not saying they shouldn't write/print/publish whatever they want, but I don't have to buy or read it.

Agree...I think it may be written by the same people who write the NY Times. As you said, they can write/print/publish whatever they want, but they aren't getting a nickel from me, T-Shirt or otherwise.bestseller92 wrote:I can't stomach RS because of the ultra liberal pablum it insists on trying to cram down my gullet.

Re: Rolling Stone
I got a free subscription because of some CD I purchased on Amazon.
Can't beat it for that price
There are some good articles in the midst of a lot of junk, and Matt Taibbi's take on stuff is interesting, that's for sure!
But honestly, I'm not sure if I will continue it when I have to pay.

Re: Rolling Stone
Since it's inception as an underground paper Rolling Stone has always devoted a great deal of it's coverage to politics. The focus hasn't suddenly changed just because of the new format. In addition to music and politics they also cover movies, television, fashion, etc. They also aren't the only publication on the block, if you desire more music coverage, there's also Mojo, Q, Paste, Uncut and many others.
