Weekend Beach Getaway

My friend and I are planning her 25th birthday, coming up this November. We want to do some sort of beach destination party for a weekend. Assuming that given the time of the year, we would have to be in SC or south. Anybody have any good destinations for 4 - 6 people for a weekend getaway, domestic or in the Caribbean? Ideally we'd like to do it for ~$500/person, including airfare (from DC area).

A direct flight will give you more time for fun - essential for a weekend getaway.

I would look into a villa (or cottage) rental, rather than a hotel, but that's me. You'll be travelling at the beginning of peak season for the caribbean, so don't expect off-season rates. (September, hurricane season and back-to-school, would be the time to look for discounts.)

May we suggest Miramar Beach, Florida near Destin. Two and three bedroom houses and condos on or near the beach would be well within your budget. Many great restaurants and bars in the area.
