Bono's Jamaica Mistaica!

Post by LIBuffettFan »

I was just surfing around when I came across this article about Bono's new book where he talks about getting shot at while making a seaplane landing in Jamaica and what a horrific experience it was. So bad in fact that he promptly left Jamaica and went to Miami. Funny thing about it is there is no mention of whose plane he was in or Jimmy in any way. Maybe Bono should have written a song about it :)

Those are pretty funny omissions!
JB's just not famous enough in Ireland, I guess.

"A terrifying incident in which Bono and his family were shot at by police in Jamaica has been recalled in a new book."
.....
"The incident has been recalled in a new book, Stop The Press: An Inside Story Of The Tabloids In Ireland, written by journalist John Kierans."

I don't know that this is actually something Bono has put in a book of his own (I could be wrong). But just going off of what the article says, it looks as though it is a new book written by someone else, with a reference to the Jamiaca incident...could be possible that some of the details were not necessarily omitted by the B-man... maybe?

I just did much the same. :) I mean, what are the odds that the Jamaicans shot at *two* musicians traveling in seaplanes in early 1996?

I recall reading that Jimmy wasn't even in the plane, that his pilot actually was flying it. I forget where I read that, it's been a while.
