Thanks for the heads-up!
It looks like I can catch the WXRT stream over the internet and record it. A little more tricky than RM concerts, but I'm pretty sure I can get it. I could then put it up on one of the FTP servers around here. Anyone interested?

Re: Steve Goodman this Sunday night
Now that's just not fair--I am at the Springsteen concert then. Otherwise, I would happily listen in.

So nice to see this ... down here in GA, I was wondering if the anniversary of his passing would be observed.

Re: Steve Goodman this Sunday night
Recording successful. I'll edit it and get it posted soon.
Realize I'm not nearly the Goodman aficionado as I am with Jimmy. Would anyone have kept track of the "set list" so that I can name all of the files correctly?

Re: Steve Goodman this Sunday night
I kept track and made notes, but do not know the first song:
Steve sang two songs:
01 You rascal you...Hallelujah...it happened to ya!???
02 ELECTION YEAR RAG
John Prine commented about Steve playing at Earl of Old Town and meeting Steve...he was 5'2"
This song goes out to Burt and Ethyl.
03 SOMEBODY ELSE'S TROUBLES
Steve makes comment about Dick Clark thing on TV the other night. He's so sincere...sincerely wealthy. I had a bad dream about him once...that I had to lip sync this song on his show. My friend Arlo Guthrie gave me a break...I guess I ought to do it...
04 CITY OF NEW ORLEANS- took 35 minutes to write this song..visited by the muse
May 1975 in Indiana-about the motel they stayed at
05 THIS HOTEL ROOM
06 THE PERFECT COUNTRY WESTERN SONG -YOU NEVER EVEN CALL ME BY MY NAME with commentary by John Prine talking about being in New York City in the Hotel Roosevelt and going down to the Village. David Alan Coe picked it up and Steve put the last verse on it about mothers and prisons and trucks
07 CHICKEN CORDON BLEUS
Here's one for Wilson Pickett-parts of 634-5678
08 CAN'T GO BACK
About The Lincoln towing Company
09 LINCOLN PARK PIRATES
John Prine said it was always special when he and Steve played and his guitar playing improved 10x. Even singing got better...Steve would break a string, do a rap, tune and change the string and continue with the song. John said he told Steve he did that on purpose, put a notch in the string before he played
Amazing Grace club before it closed in 1978
10 THE AUCTIONEER (someone shouted out Sold American)
1979 toured the US with the whole band
11 MEN WHO LOVE WOMEN WHO LOVE MEN (Predominant trumpet player) Transformed for "When the saints go marching in"
Song that Mike Smith wrote about two old people who live in Holland
12 THE DUTCHMAN (special flute solo or penny whistle?)
John Prine again. talking about when Steve passed away...
Great times...not a whole lot of room for sadness. Steve was always trying to get people well prepared for when he might not be around
13 Wonderful version of I'LL FLY AWAY with wonderful slide on guitar

The first song: Goody Goody (But Steve never sings the words goody goody)
So you met someone who set you back on your heels
Goody, goody
You met someone and now you know how it feels
Goody, goody
You gave him your heart too
Just as I gave mine to you
And he broke it in little pieces
Now how do you do
You lie awake just singing the blues all night
Goody, goody
And you think that loves a barrel of dynamite
Hooray and hallelujah
Ya had it coming to ya
Goody, goody for him, goody, goody for me
I hope your satisfied you rascal you
So you met someone who set you back on your heels
Goody Goody
You met someone and now you know how it feels
Goody, goody
You gave him your heart too
Just as I gave mine to you
And he broke it in little pieces
Now how do you do
You lie awake just singing the blues all night
Goody, goody
And you think that loves a barrel of dynamite
Hooray and hallelujah
Ya had it coming to ya
Goody, goody for him, goody, goody for me
I hope your satisfied you rascal you.

Re: Steve Goodman this Sunday night
The bad news
Seems to have been a "technical difficulty" unbeknown to me during recording. The first 6 songs came out great. However, despite the log showing the entire show being recorded, only the first half hour actually was. Strange that it was cut off precisely between songs, leading me to think there was an issue with Shoutcast splitting being enabled on the recorder or something. Bummer.
The good news
You can find the first half of this show on SunLover's FTP server in the folder below. [SunLover - thanks for the space, despite my not asking ahead of time.

Sorry I missed it, but I was at a pretty extraordinary springsteen concert centered around the second ever performance of the entire Born to Run album.
