Iranian Military Parade ends in Air Force Plane Crashing....

Post by pair8head »

TEHRAN, Iran – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that Iran is stronger than ever and warned that its military will "cut the hand" of anyone who attacks. But a military parade where he spoke was marred when an air force plane crashed, killing seven people, according to state radio.

State TV showed video footage of burning wreckage from the military plane surrounded by fire trucks in farmlands south of Tehran.

There was not immediate word on the cause of the crash, but the Iranian military — as well its civilian airlines — have been plagued by lethal accidents. The crashes are blamed in part on U.S. sanctions that make it difficult for Iran to get spare parts, but experts have also said airlines are strapped for cash and often have poor maintenance.

Yeah right, blame the U.S. Like they can't make the parts themselves. It's so easy to blame America nowadays and I'm sick of it. What goes around, comes around....I truly believe that. I have hope.

Well if we would agree with Iran that Israel is an illegitimate country and that the holocaust never happened. Perhaps we should take the first step here and show some solidarity with the fine residents of Iran and declare September 18 Anti-Israel day. We could celebrate together.

My cousin was married to an Iranian, and he was smarter than that. He was actually a very sweet guy. Anybody in the world with half a brain knows the Holocaust happened.

Sadly, there are many people, both home and abroad, that are missing part of their brain. This includes some my fellow Americans. :(
I'd like to think that this yahoo (the President of Iran, not your cousin) speaks for himself and a small segment of the Iranian people. I can only hope that not every Iranian citizen is as ignorant as their president.

I'm sure he denies that this plane crash happened, too.

These people can't even make plane parts, and they're trying to make nukes? :o Scary.

I actually kind of expected we would all have a good time
laughing at the irony of the Air Force plane crashing
during a Military Parade.

And before anyone says anything Yes I realize that there were
7 fatalities and I for one said a quick prayer for their souls.

Absolutely. I love the irony. It shows off their debilitating military. Debilitating to who I'm not sure.

Well, it's hard to want to do say a prayer for people of a country that seem to despise the US so much and make outlandish public statements. Some people might say to be above all that and that the people killed may not share the presdients views. I, unfortunately, am not sure if I could be one of those people. Plus, if I said a prayer for them, I'd do it in Hebrew. Yet more irony...

The vast majority of the Iranian people are good people just like us. To hate a nation because of their leadership is lowering yourself to the level of that nations leaders. In my opinion.

Sort of depends on your definition of "vast" but I do agree and totally recognize that. I guess I'm just sayin' it's not easy.

the Iraq-Iran War wasn't really high-tech. basically it was just sending wave after wave after wave of fodder forward hoping the barrels on the Iraqi machine guns would melt before they ran out of 10 year olds. To be blunt, that is probably the same tactic the Chinese would use; it was the same one that worked so well for the Russians against a technologically-superior Wehrmacht.

and as for having the tech to make plane parts, and nukes.. they probably have the ability to do it, perhaps.. tho not on the scale needed, given that most of those planes are 30+ years old (we stopped shipping with the fall of the Shah, and the sanctions went in right after that.) Not a lot of airlines in the US that could say "we kept it together this long by cannibalizing parts and black-market deals" either. And military planes are a bit more finicky than DC-3s.
