New Breast Cancer PSA, Save the Boobs, Raises eybrows

Post by srkmrd »

In Wayne’s thread about starting a thread I voted boobies I think partly because I saw this on the news this morning.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/save-boobs-br ... id=8646632

I can see where some people may not like or approve of these PSA's but I do not think it is so bad. I had a friend that found out she had breast cancer when she was 30 and I was in my 20's and I remember thinking at the time that I thought it was not possible at that age.......if this raises awareness, then that is great.
On GMA this morning Robin said she had the shirt that says 'save second base' but she was not sure if she liked the part of the PSA where it says make self exams fun with a partner. My friend that was 30 when she found a lump......it was actually her husband who found it...... and when I had a small (benign) lump years ago the first thing I did was ask my husband, what do you think this is....

I think anything that reminds us to get mammograms is fine... Save 2nd Base is a foundation co-founded by Kelly Rooney (as in the Steelers):

Everyone likes boobies. They are worthy of saving.

I wonder if cervical cancer should adopt, "Save the Pu..".... or not.

I'm afraid I don't get the connection between "saving second base" and breast cancer at all...... For that matter, I've never heard anything in baseball even remotely close to "saving second base" (except maybe "take your base" on a walk or getting hit by a pitch...and that would be FIRST base, anyway).

Explanation, please, if anybody has one.

Of course, and as Jimmy himself will tell you, us Catholic boys never did that sort of stuff.

Anything that raises awareness is okay by me. I lost my mom in '96 to breast cancer. We recently had a very successful (and fun) event called "Bikers For Boobs" http://www.bikersforboobsar.com/ We raised $8000.00!!

Well done. I have an older sister who is a survivor so I too like anything that raises awareness.

Todd with no hair on his face? Is that even legal? Would we have to wrap his

face in cloth like the invisible man to be able to look at him?

Hey, as long as it gets people talking about it and raises awareness to cancer, the ad is doing a good thing. Marion Barry showed us that any publicity is good publicity.

I love boobies and want them to all be ok.

Seriously? What's wrong with the PSAs?

i mean in college, we promoted that one partner should put the condom on the other... make it part of the foreplay.... why not have your partner check the girls out? your partner is probably the first person you would go to if you found something...
I must be wishing on someone else's star....

No I was referring to the fact we're all getting along. You know hell has frozen over?

But then when you get them squished it can sometimes be cold too. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]
