I was going to say I'm not liking the new song very much but awful works.HD18JBGuy wrote:Does he think he is Buffett Doggy Dogg now? Awful song!!Sounds like it was written by a high schooler, not someone with 40 years of music experience.

I think its sounds similar to the rap-ish part of Over Kill from Banana Wind.

Not for me mon!
On that list of songs that won't likely appear on my i-pod.
Maybe he sings the words on the studio version vs almost rapping.

I'm sure the studio version will sound better. You can see him looking at the monitor.

Wow, what a busy lyric. It's along the lines of Overkill and maybe a couple of others that are more chilled out than that dance floor cheesy kind of songs (PATEOTW for one).
Does it seem that there is some sort of smugness?

Re: New Song: Turn Up The Heat and Chill The Rosè
WOW.... this song is just plain awful. Did Jimmy write this? Last night while I was driving to a friends house I was listening to RM on Sirius. They were replaying a concert from Philly in 05 I think. Werewolfes Of London came on and I had to turn the channel. I honestly could not listen to his version of it one second longer. I like most of Jimmy's stuff, but there are some things that work for him, and some things that don't. This song and WWOL simply DO NOT WORK FOR HIM.
Actually, I don't think I'd like this new song no matter who was doing it.

I'm too the point where I don't mind Jimmy trying different stuff musically
instead of the stereotypical "Buffett sound", musically I mean & not lyrically.
This studio version of this song will be less choppy and tighter and I like clever wordplay.
First time I heard "Autour Du Rocher" I thought "what the heck is Jimmy doing on this drum machine rap beat but now I like it. "Wheel inside the Wheel" is different but good too and I liked "Party At the End of the World" from the start.
Don't get me wrong there are some things I hate, different strokes I guess.

Here is a video of Chill The Rose featuring the arrival of Jimmy and the Coral Reefers in St. Barts.
It was done by Cedric Robion, the photographer who also did the great videos of Jimmy in Paris.

Did it really happen?
Was I really there?
Having said that this isn't my favorite either but that night he could have sung the phone book for all I cared.

Cool video and thanks for sharing!
It still doesn't change my opinion of the song though
