Nope--- $100,000. And let me ask this - would it be enough for you to "take a break" for a couple of years???

If take a break means not go to my real job, I could easily miss 2 years of work. 3 years if I became uberthrifty with the $100K.

Pretend you don't have to .... that this is $100,000 to spend ridiculously, stupidly and frivolously on YOURSELF, with no guilt. So let's think cars, jewelry, trips and just for the heck of it forget about charity the well being of others.

Spoil yourselves. What would you buy or do?

Add this $100,000 to what I already have in savings and investments, I could probably go 5 years, minimum, without working. Longer if the market hadn't crashed last year. That would bring me to 62 and I could start collecting social security. But by then I'd be pretty close to broke.

I'd probably keep out about a quarter of it ($25K) and keep on working. Out of the $25K I'd probably buy myself a better used car and a new bike; this would still leave me some WAM ('Walking-Around Money') to chase at least one JB concert and maybe a couple of other phlockings per year.

I'd sock the rest of it into a CD and start making plans for five years from now, when could I tell the boss to 'take this job and shove it'; sign up for Uncle Sugar's monthly handouts; claim my pension from my previous job(s); and then just sit back and watch everybody else scamper for the all-mighty dollar.

With both?
If I had a boat
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat
I love it when Tall Paul plays this and we all go up front and sign the song:

I would use half the money to travel, go to all the Parrothead events I wanted to and give a big chunk to my son and his family so they could buy a car or whatever they need.

Me too.... :( But since I do have two years saved (I had three but the market....well you), the 100K would cover her last two years......

I would love to go to Hawaii for my 30th wedding anniversary next June.....maybe for my 40th....... [smilie=eye.gif]

I wonder if Jimmy would play a private concert for that much/that little?

Otherwise, I could buy a small (float) plane and get my daughter to fly me around to interesting places, satisfying some of my wanderlust and getting her hours up to a high enough level to get a real job....

Put $25K in savings and use the rest to take as many of you to St Barts with me as I could.
Seriously.

I'd love to give it to a group trying to open a no kill animal shelter in my town.

If it were to be spent on me, I'd buy property in Michingan's Upper Peninsula...

I'd seriously buy a pony...a horse actually. I'd really like to get back into showing horses like I did in school. I could take time off work and concentrate on riding as my primary activity, since I wouldn't have to work.
