Wings is written by Jimmy and Will Kimbrough. It's the name of Will's new album:
From Will's blog October 08: http://www.willkimbrough.com/blog.php •My new album, “Wings” is musically complete. We are now working on the artwork and making plans for early 2010 release. I am really excited about this album, which contains “Three Angels”, “Wings” (written with Jimmy Buffett), and 8 other brand new songs that I can’t wait for you all to hear.

I Got Wings
I've been up around the stratosphere
At 31,000 feet
I'm gonna fly on out of here
On wings that you can't see
If you're ever gonna fly without fear
You're gonna have to learn to love the atmosphere
And you've gotta learn to use those wings
That you can't see.
I've been skiing on the mountains of the moon
all weekend long
I've been lookin out for life on Mars
And singing my favorite songs.
All these things could be yours too
If you could just take another point of view
Everybody's gotta use wings
That they can't see.
I've got wings ... you can't see
I have wheels on my feet
Way up high
I feel free
On these wings you can't see.
Harmonica
No I don't need no plane ride
I don't need no airport life
I can hang around that treetop flying
Level all day long
Now I'm looking down on tiny cars
Tiny swimmers swimming around pools in yards
All on account of these wings
That you can't see
I've got wings ... you can't see
I have wheels on my feet
Way up high
I feel free
On these wings you can't see.
Harmonica
And maybe if you try to open up your mind
You might learn some things
God only knows what you might find
Floatin' on those wings
You can try to fly away from all your problems
Well I'm here to say that ain't the way to solve them
I can only help you with wings you can't see
I've got wings ... you can't see
I have wheels on my feet
Way up high
I feel free
On these wings you can't see.
You have wings
Look and see
Silver wings
Just like me
Way up high
We'll be free
Come on take a little taste of freedom
High up in a cloud lined kingdom
Take a little trip on wings
That you can't see
Here we are, maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do
It's the child in us we really value
Here we are, with our fins up and our feathers flashing
Here we are, with our coconut shell brassieres chanting
I just listened to the studio version of Life Short Call Now by Bruce Cockburn and I'm thinking that John Lovell will have a great song for a trumpet solo.
I'm wondering how this one will go over at the live shows?!?
Does anybody know how many of these songs are cover songs? I don't really care, just wondering.
I really did not like "A lot to Drink about". Just because something's a funny one-liner does not mean it should be a whole song. It's already dated & I'm glad it's last on the album.
The other songs I've heard such as Summerzcool, Turn Up The Heat and Chill The Rose and Rhumba Man sounded great to me.
It's tradition for me to call in sick on Buffett release day and I can't wait!

For those of you who have, in the past, pre-ordered from Amazon or Mailboat Records, do you normally receive your album in the mail before the official release date, on the date, or after the date? I'd like to pre-order, but if I won't get my album until after it's in the stores, then I'll just wait and pick it up on the release day.
I ordered Live From Hawaii (the first release) and it arrived...I think, the day after it actually came out. Which, in Buffettland, doesn't mean what it says because for whatever reason his albums don't really show up on actual release day I've noticed. Not all of them anyway.
It just occurred to me that Jimmy is releasing this album almost exactly on the
10th anniversary of my first show which was in West Palm on 12-9-99.
Thanks Jimmy for thinking of me. Now I am definitely taking that day off
