Seattle has a "Spam Carving" Contest every year that has become a bit famous.
here is a bit about it from the "NY Times"
Seattle's annual Spam-carving contest awards two round-trip plane tickets to far-flung international destinations. Contestants have 15 minutes to carve two cans' worth of Spam. Past winners were works representing Spamhenge and Spammy Wynette (complete with flowing locks of Spam-hair squeezed from a garlic press).

Spam sculptors may use just about any utensil to create their masterpiece. ''We allow anything for carving except chain saws -- we had a problem with chain saws the first year,'' said Dana Cox, a spokesman for The Underground Tour, a Seattle tourist-attraction that runs the Spam carving.

My son has a teacher that will give extra credit if you bring him in two cans of spam...and ... he gives out "spam" awards, such as pencils, flashlights, etc.....

My son LOVES the bacon spam...

   I haven't tried Spam in 15+ years. Didn't like it. My son wanted some, so I bought some just this past Friday. It was actually really good!! To be honest, I picked up the 'low sodium' not knowing, and it was still salty as heck (which is good, cause I'm a saltaholic). He fried some with eggs, E fried some on a sammich.

So on the way home tonight? I picked up another can.  No bacon one in my store, though.

I had bad experiences as a kid with spam...my Mom would dip it in egg, bread it and fry it...yuk! Like I said, though, keet and hubby both love it!

Hawaiian Spam Sandwich

Ingredients:
1 can Spam luncheon meat (12 oz)
4 slices American cheese
1 can Pineapple rings (8 oz); drained
4 Hamburger buns; split

Directions:
Brown SPAM slices in skillet. Place 2 SPAM slices on each bottom half of hamburger bun. Top with pineapple ring and cheese slice. Cover sandwich with top half of bun.
Coat each sandwich with pancake batter and DEEP FRY!

Seriously though, I bought some of the Spam with Bacon the other day and just tried it
this morning (fried, with muenster cheese and egg, on toasted Italian bread).
Pretty good, and it's lower salt and fat than regular Spam. :pirate:
