Couple Movies
Hubby and I have rented a very secluded cabin for a drama-free Thanksgiving (away from the family). It'll just be the two of us and our Yorkshire Terrierorist, Jake in the Appalachian foothills of Ohio. I'm schlepping all the stuff for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and we have trails to hike, hot-tubs to soak in, firepits, and a fireplace...but no TV reception. That works great for me, but hubby will need some time with a remote in his hand.
All that said, we are not movie theatre goers, so I know there have been a TON of movies we've missed. Hubby is not a big shot 'em up or sci-fi guy, but don't want to take along only a bunch of Meg Ryan or other girlie stuff. Last movie we saw was Charlie Wilson's War. Any good suggestions for movies we could enjoy together?

Big Fish. It's all about a father/son relationship that has an excellent and off beat story, fantastic acting, and such a wonderful ending.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.

So to rectify this tragic situation, my suggestions would have to be:

Princess Bride (something for everyone)
Take along The Seven Samurai and Magnificent Seven and compare and contrast since MS was based on the same story line as Samurai.
Godfather I and II, but not III.
Rob Roy is adventure and romance with Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange and an insidious Tim Roth.

Miracle on 34th St
Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter could pass for a holiday season blockbuster.
Plenty of quality movies released in Nov-Dec's pass.
Australia
Milk
There Will be Blood
Fanny and Alexander TV version (not sure if you are into Bergman films)

Did you hear the one about me being a punk?
Did you hear the one about me being a drunk?
Did you hear the one about me losing my nerve?
Or how I'm just another f**** sheep in the herd?
Did you hear the one about me giving a s***?
Cause if I ever did I don't remember it.
