Try looking for a heated mattress pad. Like those much better than the blanket. :) Although I'm not needing either these days.

We looked at quite a few... memory foam, extra firm, etc.

Finally settled on an off-brand sleep number style. WOW!!! Huge difference. My back feels great.

I have a sleep number bed...very comfortable... I think the frame is a "Basset".....

Best bet is to go into a Select Comfort and try it out... But it's probably NOT for everyone...

We both hate staying in lesser hotels now that we're used to the super cushy bed. We actually bought a second pad to go on the guest bed at my parents' house.

Me too. I mean our waterbed not Manatee's.

One great thing about returning home from a vacation is getting back into that bed. I get so cranky when I keep waking up with body parts asleep from sleeping on a regular mattress.

In the winter the "already warmed up bed" is a treat.

If it ever needs to be replaced, I don't know what we'll do. Can you still buy waterbeds?

I can still buy them here. I am actually due for a new one. When used too

long they will stretch and sag just like a conventional mattress. I have lights

under the bed podium that I can "clap" on as well as behind the headboard.

My overbed mirrors and mirror ball are being reworked at this time.

I am not joking here.

Really.

You could always buy a "DUX" bed. I'm not really sure what they go for
but the Seattle area stores are advertising up to $4000.00 off right now. :o

And NO I did NOT misplace the decimal point.

I am watching this thread closely. I HATE my mattress, it's time for a new one.

Question: some people have said that the foam mattresses are hot. Are they? Me no likey hot.

And where do you get an off-brand sleep number bed? Sounds interesting.

I completely understand hot at night - I've been going through "the change" for several years and still suffer from night sweats. Yes it is warmer than a conventional mattress but I got used to it. The memory foam is so comfortable. I'd suggest that you buy a mattress topper of at least 4 inches and try that out first if you think you might be interested in a memory foam. My former bed (before I moved here) was AWFUL. Despite that, I gave it to my son for his first apartment and he got a 4" memory foam topper and was able to sleep comfortably. Don actually loved my son's bed and did not have trouble with his arthritic shoulder sleeping on it.

Oh and you can order the 4"memory foam toppers from the dreaded Walmart for a very reasonable price. Some of them out there are so dang expensive it's unreal.

try Walmart online. Don't go to the stores as most stores only have the 2" and that's not enough foam

I recently bought (about 3 months ago) the Riviera HD memory foam mattress from Angel Beds at about half the cost of a Tempur-pedic. I have never slept or felt better. I had considered the sleep number bed but then started to question how many times would I really be adjusting it. I felt it would be more of a set it and forget it so why pay for something that I would not use. I do not regret the decision one bit and actually purchased two additional mattresses as well. I have since found out that the mattresses are actually made by Jeffco Fibres, maybe they can be found cheaper.
