My bed is about 30 years old. I have never had a new bed. I am getting older now and have had back pain most of my life. I am planning on getting a new bed. I have no idea what I am looking for. I want to ask you all what kind of bed do you have and are you happy with it?

We have the one with the BIG pillowtop. I don't think it's so great. It is very soft in the middle--could be the 2 heavyweights who sleep there.... Also it's hard to find sheets for them.

We have an older Serta with a memory foam mattress pad on top- it's super cushy.

But it depends on what you like- some people are happier sleeping on a pile of cardboard boxes (what the mattress felt like before the memory foam).

Can't think of my brand...but it is a Firm Mattress with a Semi-Pillowtop....took me a while to get used to it, my other one was kind of crap that I got used to.

damn, now I'm going to have to go see what I have! *sigh*

Just know that any mattress is going to feel great when you try it out for 2 minutes in the store, feeling foolish as you do it.

I think my next one will be a Sleep Number---purposely stayed at a Radisson at a convention last year since I knew it would give me 5 nights to try one out.

opulent jewell ultra plush by simmons. if you don't have a back problem and like a soft cushy mattress, this is it. other opinions of course will vary.

we love our memory foam...have a 3" on top of a Sealy Posturpedic. When we go to phlockings, vacation etc, we both comment how much we can't wait to get back to our own bed.

It was nine feet tall and six feet wide
soft as a downy chick
It was made from the feathers of forty eleven geese
took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick
It'd hold eight kids 'n' four hound dogs
and a piggy we stole from the shed
We didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun
on Grandma's feather bed

We got ours at the Denver Mattress Factory, so I'm not much help, but a new mattress has made a HUGE difference.

We have a Serta pillow top with a 4" memory foam matterss top. I love it!! The memory foam is the way to go if you have arthritis in your hips and sleep on your sides.

about this time last year my back had really been hurting for awhile.
We bought a new Sealy Posturpedic around Christmas, and my back has felt great ever since.

Me too. I mean our waterbed not Manatee's.

One great thing about returning home from a vacation is getting back into that bed. I get so cranky when I keep waking up with body parts asleep from sleeping on a regular mattress.

In the winter the "already warmed up bed" is a treat.

If it ever needs to be replaced, I don't know what we'll do. Can you still buy waterbeds?

NO!!!!!!!!!!!! At least not around here.

We now have a tempurpedic, and as nice as it is it is not my waterbed............we had to buy an electric blanket to pre-warm the sheets, cause they're way too cold after 30 years of a waterbed.

Try looking for a heated mattress pad. Like those much better than the blanket. :) Although I'm not needing either these days.
