Re: How was the St Barth's Le Select concert?
We arrived Friday, but I know some of the BN'ers were there on Tuesday and Wednesday. JB played Baz Bar on Thursday. We flew from Miami and Jim Mayer sat next to us, Nadirah Shakoor and Peter Mayer in front of us. Mac came in on a different flight.
The locals gave a head count of 2,500 people, more than they have for New Year's Eve and the Bucket Race. There were probably 20 people that got there before noon and staked out prime Real Estate. Everyone had a great time hanging out until the "Buffett Boat Lift" of 2009 occurred. The ferry's from St. Maarten, Anguilla, and surrounding islands arrived and brought some chuckle heads that must have started partying the Monday before. Let's put it this way, the big nucklehead behind me started screaming "YEAH, LAST MANGO IN PARADISE" when the song started and continued to scream that the whole song.
The quai in Gustavia is very small, and they had a barrier set up so the Steel drum Band from St Maarten could play. They played from 6:00 to 7:00 pm and then they moved the barricades up. things got a little dicey there and the stage manager had to plead to the crowd to back up. Everyone got settled and things went fairly smoothly after that. The large yachts tied up to the pier had balcony seating and a great view.
It was hot all day and sunny, but at about 7:30 the skies opened up and down poured for about ten minutes straight. It was still raining when stars came out over the hill and it soon passed. It actually cooled everyone down and even lightened the crowd for a little bit.
The show was outstanding, lots of good energy. I did hear two girls fell into the water near the boats

Re: How was the St Barth's Le Select concert?
great time great show only one girl into the harbor as best I could tell. Met the man at Le Select on Sun night, god he is short and quite deaf. He was having a great time popping champagne with Marius and friends in the back room for awhile. The island is quite nice, and very expensive. The band and crew on our flights, great people, very nice to talk to. I guess they have to be when they are stuck next to you in the back of the plane. Traded stickers for picks. We gave out a lot of stickers, if you wanted one and we didn't see you, pm your address
Saline beach in our top 5 beaches
Ti punch is deadly
That dream I have been having all my life where I drive up a steep hill and fall backwards when the road gets pretty much straight up, must be there, cars barely make it up the hills
Hotel Village St Jean was great, reasonable price, up the street from Eden Rock, we got a upgrade to a villa for free, nice
Saw Jimmy's old bar, what a view from up there, and some of the biggest spiders in the ruins I have ever seen
Met many folks from the Anguilla show, many great people from around the country
The crowd was a bit pushy when they pulled the gates, but it allowed us to get front row
no teleprompter means new lyrics to the songs
Voyager ferry to be avoided, they screwed many many people
We siggest SBBT ferry, was shorter, smoother
So many cameras I am sure the whole show will get up on youtube

Dave, nice pictures. We have to exchange pics. I had only limited space on my card and forgot Jim's camera. Nice shot of me and Pam.
We will all post memories when things settle down. Most are still in St Barts, we just got back late last night. It was well worth the money (with the dollar as it is). We DO plan on going back again. I need to marry my girls to some rich French men so we can vacation for free!!
They would kill me if they knew I just posted that.

those of us with red hair, usually have pale skin. those of us, who can tan with out burning to a crisp, are to be envied. the rest of us, usally find out the hard way, and then rarely get out in the sun again, or wear long sleeves.citcat wrote:Them's the whitest legs I've seen in a while !!!Seas in my veins wrote:Holy moly....is that Mac...in shorts?!

I agree, these pics are OK size-wise; but just FYI, let's try making the above picture smaller.Summerlover wrote:

Use the "imgsize" tag, and merely adjust the pixel numbers. The original picture was 600x400, I cut it down by 25% to 450x300.
You just need to remember to keep the same ratio (in this case, 3/2) between the two sizing numbers to keep the picture in proper proportion.

Re: How was the St Barth's Le Select concert?
JB did a great show in St. Barths. I was, however, embarrassed by the behavior of the fans. People were very aggressive and just rude to each other and the security staff in general. Our friends ran into Charleston and the other security crew at lunch on Sunday and they were very sweet. They mentioned that the crowd was a bit heated and there were some fans who felt "entitled" to a certain spot in front of the stage. Also, people gave staff at Le Select a hard time because they wanted to buy a JB T-Shirt which they did not carry because it was the 60th anniversary of Le Select and not Jimmy Buffett. Im not sure if it was because it was the end of the day and people were drinking all day, but I was really disappointed in much of the behavior I saw. I was at the show in Anguilla 2 years ago and it was such a different crowd. I hope the Parrot heads behave the next time.
