The Who snag SuperBowl halftime slot?

Post by MonumentBeach »

The rumors are flying today that the Who will perform this year. This makes some sense with Roger out on a solo tour and reports of Townshend getting another Who album ready for 2010.

They talked about this yesterday on P.T.I. personally I like it, but it does seem like a strange choice.

I agree with you...I was surprised by the news. That being said, I would be excited to see it. These guys are still performing at a high level even at this stage in their lives. I saw Roger in Boston last weekend and it was a tremendous show. One of the better shows I've seen this year.

As far as I know I don't know (hey that sounds like a song title) one The Who song. Didn't one of them get busted for child p0rn?

A number of years ago (I want to say around ten) the lead guitarist Pete Townsend was busted for having several hundred images on his computer. I know his defense was that he was doing reserach to write a rock opera about child abuse and child p***, and if I remember right, he got off with just a slap on the wrist, and the charges may have even been dropped altogether.

If you watch C.S.I., I'm pretty sure they use a Who song as the theme song.

Thanks for the lesson Jack. I've heard two of those songs.
I always thought they were also known as The Guess Who but after googling I see that's not right
Either way I haven't liked the last couple of halftime shows and this looks like more of the same.
Now more than ever it seems Buffett would be just as a good choice as the last few but I don't really care.

Uh huh........ ??? :(

My guess is that people that don't like these shows don't like these bands????

2006: The Rolling Stones
2007: Prince
2008: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
2009: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
2010: The Who?

Which songs did you know? Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again are from Who's Next, 1971. Lots of other great songs on that old vinyl! :D

Won't Get fooled Again and My Generation.

My favorite halftime shows in recent years were Paul McCartney and Prince.

Love Ain't for Keeping, also from Who's Next... There's the cover of the album...

Look closely at the cement thingy. There was some speculation that the band members had recently relieved themselves!

Nostalgia is good but it would be cool to hear a rock band that's more current doing the halftime slot. I'm not sure what the age demographic of the Superbowl is. You can't please everybody though but in the end I don't watch for the ads or halftime show...I watch for the game.....and the beer and wings!
