I had *such* a crush on him when I was in college ... followed him all over Texas ... met him a couple of times at smaller gigs. He was the definition of COOL ... and man, was he HOT.

That is not what I remember Leon Russell looking like. but I would sure love to see him again….

WOW! I literally got chills down my spine when they were singing "America the Beutiful"! If I may say so, what an inspired mix of three songs to put together for a medley. All "American" in nature, but definetly "Southern" in flavor! WOW! :D

I'm a late comer to the ZBB party. Not too much country makes it across the Pacific to Hawaii. The album is fantastic! The cover of Ray Lamontagne is forgettable and that's one of those songs that is better left untouched. Apart from that, this is is one of my favorite albums of the year.

The Foundation is a little too mainstream country and at times a little too bluegrassy for me. The best songs are "Toes" and "Where The Boat Leaves From" and the rest is kinda blah.
I liked "Chicken Fried" the first thousand times I heard it but the part about soldiers dying for our right to eat fried chicken is kinda silly.
They show promise though and their next album should be much better with hopefully more than two tropical-esque songs which is the highlight of The Foundation, imo of course.

Hopeful that's the case...........but not confident. I think they'll still keep the fiddle and the twang as the focus. Unless they go to the KChez school of marketing!! :o

they are not a trop-rock band and i dont think they are trying to be a trop-rock band. they have 2 songs with an island flavor to them...but that is it. if you do a little digging, and uncover more of their music than just what is on "the foundation"...you will see that they are much more than a country band with the fiddle and the twang....much more.

these guys can rock with the best of them, get soulful, play the blues...you name it and they can play it.

Good points. I haven't "dug", but have heard they are more of a "Jam Band" than just country. If they do some Blues I'll have to check into that! :o However, as far as the studio LP's go I'm still expecting "Chicken Fried" more so than "Toes". Which is OK for some, just not preferable in my eyes (or SOB's it appears).
But hey I'm not saying they need to change.
