Go to itunes. click on the thingie on the left that says purchased
your list of songs you've bought comes up.
Go to to view then, view options. click the box next to ring tones.
The list of songs will appear with a column (mine was on far right) with a little bell in the column with songs that are available as ringtones.
You can choose your song and use a slider bar thingie to choose the part of the song you want.
Have fun!

Re: I Phone apps
I have had my iphone for a year and I love it. I use the google maps for GPS a lot........has anyone purchased the TomTom app that has turn by turn audible directions??
It is $50 and I am thinking about it. Google maps works great when Don is driving but not so much if you are by yourself. I was hoping for a Garman app but I guess that will not happen since they have a Garman phone now.
Some of my favorite apps are the same as mentioned above. It is amazin how Shazam works....the other night it even worked in a place with a pretty good amount of background noise.
I probably use my facebook app the most
I have also made custom ring tones from itunes ......I have Fins for my normal ringtone, and A Peice of Work for when Don is calling.

I have a question...one of many. On the main screen there is an icon for weather. I figured out how to add locations, but when I opened it up it already had weather for Cupertino and New York...2 places I really don't need to know what the weather is. How can I delete them?

Re: I Phone apps
hey, Kat,
once your in the app, hit the info button- lower right.
then it should bring up your cities. The cities will have a red circle to the left of them. Just hit the circle you want to delete, and then to the right it will say 'delete'. Hit that. It should delete the cities you don't want.

Re: I Phone apps
I am totally facebook clueless so I didn't load that one.
I didn't check out the Audubon birding one. I didn't know that they had one. One thing about apps....there are so many it is hard to even know about them all. I like the I bird one, but haven't really had much time to play with it yet.
If you load that one, do it from itunes on your computer and then sync it on to the Iphone. It's a biggie and takes a while to download. (but not to sync for some reason)
On the weather thingie, I did delete cupertino. There is a little i in the bottom right hand corner. click on it. It will come up with the list of cities and there is a minus sign you can click to the left of the ones you want to get rid of. (However I loaded the weather channel app and I use it more
)
Oh and I got a new app last night. Battleship
We played that on paper a TON when I was a kid.

Maybe I'll wait on that a bit.

Re: I Phone apps
You guys are great! Now which one of you wants to come to Cali so you can hold my hand thru this whole learning process?
So I'm looking at my "purchased" iTunes....of course the tunes I've bought that have a ringtone are really not conducive to such purposes.
I'm working on making "Drunken Sailor" by Great Big Sea into a ringtone, but a little peeved that they make you buy it again as a ringtone after you've already bought the song. Aren't they making enough money off of us already?

iEncore is pretty cute.
If you shake it when you have the fin on, it is Jimmy saying "fins to the left" " fins to the right"

You'll be amazed at how quickly you get the hang of it. My hubby was playing with the sample in the store. I had to ask the fellow in the store how to turn it onBrown Eyed Girl wrote:You guys are great! Oh and here is one that you will need sooner or later. If you want to delete an app, hold down on one of the app buttons until the buttons go all wiggly. An X appears in the corner. Tap on the app you want to delete.

Yup, I was going to ask that question! When I finally pick which bird app I want I will delete the free sampler, so now I know how!nutmeg wrote:You'll be amazed at how quickly you get the hang of it. Hey, I always had a phone that flipped open.

I spent some time looking for ringtunes on iTunes last nite. Went thru all the Jimmy ones they have available and I think I'll go with nautical wheelers. A lot of the choices are just too mellow, I'm not sure I"d know the phone was ringing if it's in my purse.
The app store is overwhelming...there's too much stuff!
How about accessories? Cali is a hands free state. I don't talk and drive unless it's absolutely necessary...which means if I'm picking someone up at the curb at the airport. I saw a device that is a charger and FM receiver and uses the speakers to talk via speakerphone, eliminating the need for a bluetooth headset. Anyone use something like this? I have a bluetooth headset from my old phone, I've used it 3 times I think. I assume it would be compatible if I wanted to use it with the iPhone?

Re: I Phone apps
I have a friend who has an accesory that he got at Wal-mart but I have not picked it up yet, I need to get it though. It has the speaker that plays through your car radio and also can be used as a speaker phone. Plus your phone charges while hooked up.

I was able to update early to my I-Phone but only either on line or at an AT&T store. Give it a shot.conched wrote:I get to upgrade early next year. Wooo hooo.

Re: I Phone apps
Did you have ATT before, Marcus? I've had it forever, and with several types of phones and never really had any coverage/drop out issues except at my parents' house...and no provider had coverage there. My brother says no one uses ATT in ATL because they can't get a signal, but I don't recall ever having a problem there. My bars were slim at Lake Oconee, but I expected that. I'm curious to see how the iPhone works when I get to ATL next week.Dutch Harbor PH wrote:I got talked into mine about 6 months ago....Wow...great phone!....crappy coverage....lots of drop outs... oh well....cake and eat it too...????
