I don't see anything wrong with mentioning it every year.

WELL, as long as I'M still allowed to post here, it WILL get mentioned every year.

It was a date of historical significance to the NTH degree. Especially to those of us who are old enough to remember it. And I remember it VERY well.
A PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES was murdered.
I don't give a damn if he was 46 years old or 146 years old.

It's such BULLSH|T the things we choose to forget, but, yet, we somehow know who won American Friggin' Idol every year for the past 15 years.
Considering the crap that's taught in school these days, I'd be curious as to know how many students/young adults/older adults even KNOW who our four assasinated presidents are.
They don't teach this to the kids, but somehow the school cirriculums can find time to teach the alternative lifestyle crap, how to put on a condom, etc.

Never mind Nov. 22, 1963-I wonder how many school kids (and older adults) know what happened on
Dec. 7, 1941
July 20, 1969
Aug. 9, 1974
Nov. 9. 1989.

It's even MORE amazing how many people don't know who the Vice President is (but, yet, PROUDLY proclaim that they voted for his boss, Sir "Let's Europeanize and Sissify the U.S."

It's enough to make the average Joe PUKE!

OH, and President John F. Kennedy was murdered on Nov. 22, 1963, 46 years ago.
Look for a similar post from me at this time next year.

Here's how I remember that date:
We went to the moon in 1969
Um, not 1968, but a year later
We went to the moon in 1969
That's when the astronauts first walked inside a crater

We went to the moon in 1969
Not 1970 but a year sooner
We went to the moon in 1969
That's when thet made a landing that was lunar
We didn't go up to the sun or stars
We didn't go to Mercury or Mars

But we went to the moon in 1969
Not 1968 but the year after
And once they got there the astronauts felt fine
They smiled at each other and there was laughter
We went to the moon in 1969
Not 1970, a year before, uh-huh
The rocket that flew had a really neat design
When it took off it the engines made a roar

We went to the moon in 1969
The trip wasn't all that easy
And when we got there we were surprised to find
That it was solid and it wasn't cheesy
We went up to the M-double-O-N
We went up to the moon sing it again
We went to the moon in 1969
Not 1970 but a year sooner
We went to the moon in 1969
That's when they made a landing that was lunar

Now ask me about Conjunctions or the Preamble....

Yes, most definately.

I always thought the fact they were 4-4 and 6-6 somewhat of a strange coincidence.

You could probably ask some of those same people what happened on 7-4-1776, and they wouldn't have a clue.

Since you did bring them up, may we also expect similar posts on April 15, Sept. 14, and Sept. 19?
I can't argue with a word of the rest of what you had to say.
I did have to look up August 9th 1974, but I did know the other three — as well as 4/4/68 and 6/6/68.

Sure, I can start a post memorializing the murders of Presidents Lincoln (shot on 4-14-1865, died on 4-15-1865), James A. Garfield (shot on 7-2-1881, died on 9-14-1881), and William McKinley (shot on 9-6-1901, died on 9-19-1901). I didn't look any of them up-I just knew. (I did a lot of reading when I was in school)

That was the day President Nixon resigned.
The thing most Americans were happy about when he resigned was that Spiro Agnew (his first vice president) resigned first.
