We commented more than once at how that view is wasted, but it's very cool to go up there and pick around and imagine the scenes that took place there! At some point I guess David Letterman owned it but I'm not sure who owns it now. No one seems to care about all the people climbing the hill to take pictures, toast with some Ti Punch and scavange for tiles and other souveniers.

The last time I was in St. Barths getting up to Autour was considered very "frowned upon" and I was told that tourists gets prosecuted almost monthly for trespassing. There were signs up saying not to go in. I did anyways . . . but was wondering if things became I little more relaxed as of late?

So, what's the story behind Autour?

It was a 5 room hotel/ bar/nightclub that Jimmy owned an interest in back in the day. Lots of fun times, bad behavior etc. When the bars closed down I guess the place really hopped. In 1990 or 91 it burned down from a fire in the disco portion (I THINK that's the picture with the tile floor) On New Years 1991 even though it was destroyed it seems they had one last huge party that went on through the next day.

Didn't see a single sign or anyone trying to keep us from going up there. We were told in advance not to try to bring a big crowd with us but that if we went up in 3's and 4's it would be fine and it was. I'm amazed the place hasn't been dismantled bit by bit by fans. Sorry you didn't make it to this party Jon!

Gunslingers Steel Drum Band at Le Select - they played Sat night too, they were amazing. We were there buying Cheeseburgers to go for everyone saving our spot in front of the stage.

I KNOW, you know I thought "well I've been there now and I'm good" but every night before i go to sleep I re-live the entire experience again. It was really a "moment" (well a big SERIES of "moments") Great to share it with you and Jim! I hope I make that trip again someday.
