We'd love to have you in Dallas/Frisco. It really is a very well organized tailgate party ... and we feed you ... and there are REAL bathrooms. :D

I don't much care for the stadium ... I like Starplex, or whatever they're calling it now, at the State Fair Grounds in Dallas. Hoot Island (our last party there) was a bit of magic. But, it's hard to beat the fellowship, food and fun.

Mr. Play brings a real hot tub. Last year, we had a dunking booth. And, we raise a lot of money for charity. This year, we're working for one of our own (vickster) who is facing some serious health issues. It feels good to do good!

Check out the Frisco thread once we get a DATE [smilie=battingeyes.gif] ... lots to see and do ... we have a pre-tailgate get together on Friday night at the Fox Sports Bar ...

Come on down. We'll make sure you have a LARGE time. :D

We went to Toyota Park this summer- it was one of the best relaxed parking lots I've been to (so. many. clean. bathrooms!- the only time there was a line, they were pumping them out!), and we ended up with 10th row dead center through TM. We'll almost definitely go back this summer. We stayed at the Best Western in Countryside, and were really pleasantly surprised at how nice it was.

My impression of Alpine was "drunken frat boy party" more than PH party- stripper poles, jello wrestling pools, stuck next to non-phs on the lawn (at least they were fun!).

My time at Great Woods was spoiled by a really lousy date, but I was less than impressed, although I did not go to the Saturday show, and again, bad date.

Loved, loved, loved, loved Jones Beach. Still have no idea where I was or what I was doing for several hours, but judging by the rest of the day I had a good time! Tailgating at the beach, then watching Jimmy with the bay behind him was awesome!

Cinci is a great party. Venue is not that great.
Toyota Park, Great Woods and Jones Beach were all GREAT...they all had their positive and negative points but if you go with people you like than you're good!
I don't really think that the places are fun...I think the people are fun. Cincinnati this year was awesome, too. Great, great fun! :D

no... they have their "feel", but it doesn't match up with one of the major gathers like Alpine, Cinci or Dallas. One is a small cocktail party in your cul-de-sac, the other is a block party with 300 of your closest friends and "friends not yet met"

Actually, I guess everyone likes a different thing. I have been to Cinci, Dallas, Chicago, Tampa and to Anguilla, Paris, New Orleans Margaritaville, JB's Beachcomber Opening, and Hong Kong to name a very select few. The shows in the larger venues do not even compare and if you go with great friends to the smaller venues, all bases are covered.

yeah, heard you were to at least one event. Still, it's not about exclusivity, it's about camaraderie.

yep.. in my (somewhat limited) travels.. here goes..

Venue.. Concord Ca. period.. no close second.. period..
(funny I don't live near there any more but still my favorite spots on earth)
(BTW even if I had not seen Jimmy there this year.. it still would be the best)

tail gate??? Frisco.. after that?? no order none..
Cincy
Greatwoods
Toyota Park
Alpine
Houston
San Jose

no tailgate still fun..
MSG.
Vegas
Shoreline
Denver

the show is the Show.. I got Livingston Saturday night in Texas
I got my first "He Went to Paris" in Concord.. as well as Landfall
Migration a few years ago opened the Dallas show..
Bama Breeze for the first live show in Great Woods a few back
I could go on..
pretty much any show will have a gem.. you will just have to roll the dice
same with the tailgate.. they are all about my BN Pirate crew...

BTW.. you "really" want a great tailgate.. pull a surprise.. don't tell anyone
you are gonna show (well tell one person so that you get counted
either for food or $ contributions)
(also for safety so someone expects you)  (didn't do that in Concord this year)
enjoy..

Thanks! This is great feedback. Toyota Park sounds like a good one for me.
I went to Toyota Park this past tour. The tailgate is Primo. Matt does it the right way at the Parrot Dice Lounge...check it out!

From JB's interview with Billboard, it sounds like he's trying to put together something special for Jazz Fest in 2010. A combination of a Freddy and the Fishsticks show at M'ville NOLA and his appearance as a headliner on the last Saturday at Jazz Fest would be hard to beat. The bonus of all the other entertainment to choose from at the Fest makes it very special. Plus you never know who is going to show up on another entertainer's stage for a "jam".
But a truly great show would be a homecoming show in Mobile or Biloxi. Maybe even a show at Crazy Sista's place in Gulf Shores.

I can't really argue with you there, but that was a 2 week experience not a one night concert. On top of which I categorize it as one of my great life experiences so far, so money wasn't the issue.
But you DO make a good point, I just hope I don't haul it out when tix go on sale this year! I have to admit I laughed out loud when I read your post!

..Already put my request in for Great Woods..Sec. 2 Row A, Seats 8&9..........whenever it is.....Scarlet, I take it by your post that you may return to SBH??? It really does get BETTER every time...I new you would feel right at home after 2 weeks..We love going in June, the only downside is BazBar is closed...so I guess we will have to make twice a year..And haul it out, that's what it is for. The best venue? easy.

The one you're friends are at with you.

Frisco would be my pick. I can't say that it's 'the best venue/tailgate' there is, but it is THE BEST that I've been to. Hope we get a date for next year, but this time, I'll be doing the tailgate only...no show. Yep...the tailgate is THAT good. :D :D :D

Leave it to you to sum it up perfectly!

And Ron how do you put in a request this far in advance??? Inquiring minds want to know! [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

As far as going back to SBH, maybe someday, it was beautiful and I had a lot of fun but the glam frou frou side really isn't "me" so much. The food and the beaches rocked and bottom line was what Jack said, the friends (old and new) that were with me. Maybe those of us who went could do a "reunion" of sorts at some point! :D

I have a VERY good relationship with two of the brokers from two different sites, Total Tickets and Coast to Coast tickets....they know my preferences and call me as soon as they see the tickets available, One will actually buy them himself 'cause he knows I will take them no matter what..Last June I ended up with two front row and two in row 2 as a back up...gave them to my Bro-in-law......
