Finally...

Post by sailorkid94 »

I got a new sailboat! the name it has now I cant even pronounce so, it needs a new name. I figured you all would be the perfect people to ask to help me come up with a creative JB related name for my new boat. I want it to be something only a parrotthead and when the boat is named I will tell everyone who's name I picked
Thanks

Yes and Yes. Lets just say i'm probally one of the youngest parrottheads out there, but still old enough to be using this site  That tread was great. Lots of good ideas. Albion really stuck me. I liked orion, but it was too generic, but Albion was just great.

Glad you found some names....and I hope you know I was teasing you....but if you look at the picture in my signature line, you'll see one of the places I visited on my last sailing trip. Going back in january.... :D Looking at buying my own boat myself...

Glad you didn't like Cilcia because that might be mine....or "shark bait"

O sunseeker, I know you were teasing me, but being somewhat new to this fourm I figured l'd tell everyone a little about myself :D That pic is beautiful. St. Barts? And that the current name is Ninochka III. Apparently it means like little girl or great-grandaughter in Hebrew or something.

FYI — pronunciation on that would most likely be "nih-NOTCH-ka".

I always thought that La Vie Dansante would be a great boat name.

When I bought my boat two years ago, we went through the same thing in trying to come up with a name. I wanted something "Buffett-y" but not something that everyone would point to and say "Parrothead!" (not that there's anything wrong with that...) We actually considered Albion for a while, but my son wanted something that sounded more like a pirate ship. I was pondering our predicament one day listening to some old Jimmy shows and he played Lyle Lovett's "If I Had a Boat." He hit the second verse, and inspiration struck:

"Well the mystery masked man was smart,
Got himself a Tonto.
Cause Tonto did the dirty work for free.

But Tonto he was smarter,
One days said Kemosabe,
Kiss my a$$ I bought a boat
I'm going off to sea."

Being Lone Ranger fan, as well as a Lyle Lovett fan and a Buffett fan, I couldn't resist and, oddly enough, the family agreed...

And the "Tonto's Revenge" was born.

I've thought "Nothing But a Breeze" would be a good name for a sailboat....it's Buffetty, but not overtly.
Another name that only a true PH would know would be "Chicamauga"
