car tag
You guys are not gonna belive this but i got denied a tag that said FYNZ UP. They said and I quote its offensive. ? It took them 3 months to decide this? What the heck. After i called and was on hold for nearly an hour they gave me an email add that I could explain what it meant to the people that decide these things. I got no phone call no letter nothing. If they had simply looked in there data base they would have seen that there are about 20 other variations on this tag. I guess ignorance really is bliss.

Re: car tag
My tags are HANGTEN ..... I had that tag for years when I lived in VA. When I moved to MD I actually had to explain to the DMV lady that it was a surfing term and not as I think she suspected, a description of my *manhood*. I think she was about to deny the request as offensive (though she did have a sparkle in her eye as she spoke to me).

I could never understand why people voluntarily pay DMV more than they have to so they can put lame phrases or impossible to decipher abbreviations on their license plates.

That's why they're sometimes referred to as *Vanity Tags*.LIPH wrote:I could never understand why people voluntarily pay DMV more than they have to so they can put lame phrases or impossible to decipher abbreviations on their license plates.

In Virginia, you can Parrothead plates and not "say" anything. It'll just have a JB####. The numbers correspond to the number of parrotheads that have the plates.LIPH wrote:I could never understand why people voluntarily pay DMV more than they have to so they can put lame phrases or impossible to decipher abbreviations on their license plates.
I see them everywhere and I can't tell you the number of people that have seen my plates and given me the "fins up" sign.
Way better then someone giving me the finger!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Re: car tag
The Virginia Parrothead tags can be generic JB#### or for an extra $10, they can be personalized, e.g. belowCarolinadreamin' wrote:In Virginia, you can Parrothead plates and not "say" anything. Well, subconsciously, I guess we're all "offensive!" Just goes to show that there are several meanings to everything...and I'm sure Jimmy meant it to be a "tad" bit off-color?? I better go shoot 6-holes in my freezer before my dream shrinks.medicaldawg wrote:You guys are not gonna belive this but i got denied a tag that said FYNZ UP. They said and I quote its offensive. ? While some become pearls

Re: car tag
The people at the DMV in Washington can be fairly stupid.
Here is a great example.
I saw a gentleman get out of a car with tags that read
BBMFIC Now I"m sure most of you all know what it means.
I asked him "How in the hell did you get that past the DMV
people and he informed me that he told the lady that it meant
"Beautiful Bald Man Fully In Charge"
and she bought it.

Clearly, I am seeking attention to make up for all the times I was overlooked as the youngest child in the family. I just have a Happy Shark on my car's trunk and a Got Fins bumpersticker. It's too expensive to have a vanity plate.
