Jimmy's most important lesson, the stories we can tell!!!!

Post by don juan »

WE All know Jimmy's story of how he bucked the odds headed south and wrote his own karma!! Recently I learned a good friend of mine had died in an auto accident. he was about 70, had a younger wife a large construction company and flew his own plane. I used to subcontract for him with my business. I have been on the road working for two years, I did not even know he was gone. I thought of life and how quickly it passes. I booked an extended trip to Costa Rica. Each of us follow our own song line are you ?? have you? Regale us with a story of your life or an interesting friend
because
we do it for the stories we can tell

I love the song "Stories We Can Tell."

It was written by John B. Sebastian, and I've always wanted to hear the story behind it.

I'd guess it would be very unlikely to find that particular video by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

The only recording that I know of by TP & the HB was released on the DVD/CD set Runnin' Down A Dream (2007), and it was on the Bonus Soundtrack CD. That track was recorded at the Record Plant in Hollywood CA, in 1982 and featured in addition to Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Ron Blair, Stan Lynch and Phil Jones.

Thanks for the enlightenment GBM. I could swear (not to long ago) I saw a video phone recording of TP and the HB on you tube doing this song....

To Shannon: There isn't video for this that I can find either

To both Shannon and Dave: Tom Petty has it on the Pack Up the Plantation live album as well.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

It's about an old guitar in a museum and the guitar in question belonged to and was played by Hank Williams. You can see it at the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery Alabama.

Hey! I have that CD. Just listened to it yesterday! TP does a great job on SWCT.
