Can you imagine what it would be like if he showed up here — it would have to be unannounced, obviously — and did a solo acoustic set some summer evening?FinnsU.P. wrote:After Alpine this summer I kept thinking about how lucky we are that he's willing to keep doing this for us and I hold my breath everytime he sings OPH waiting to hear him reassure us "NOT YET!"
BTW, Jimmy. We'll be married 25 years in September and we both turn 50 within a couple of weeks of that. A concert on the shore of Lake Superior would be GREAT!!!!!!!!!

You're right. I am glad he released new material.SoILPrtHed wrote:Now I know that is probably not for all BN post readers, but for all of those getting ready to rain on Parrotheads that might like the new album- I am sending out this "before you even get started" message. People have asked for new material, new albums and something a little from the past for the last few years. WELL....here you go. Our man Bubba has provided, for Christmas no less, what we have all been asking for. I cannot believe the shrinkwrap off the boxes the CDs have come in, hasn't even made it to the shredder yet and people (music critics) are blasting it and saying that Parrotheads haven't been given much- "by the way- the bashing hasn't started on here yet, but on other media it has".
I have been to and listened to quite a few concerts this year and never once did I hear people boo any of his new stuff and never read any bad reviews of concerts in papers or mags. The people who are going to slam this album simply do not know or maybe just don't understand how lucky Parrotheads, BNers and others that enjoy Jimmy's music are to still have him around and have him in our lives. Long ago, he could have packed it in and headed Down Island, but he has stuck it out for us and trust me- this Parrothead is sticking with him.
Disclaimer- In NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM, do I claim to be the one and only True Parrothead- nor do I hold a concrete definition to what a TRUE Parrothead actually is or isn't- actually don't think there is one. I am simply thankful that I have had the chance to experience his music (live and on RM) and appreciate that he is still doing it after all these years.
Come on, Larry. Everyone knows you get to decide. You're the decider.LIPH wrote:What's a "TRUE Parrothead" and who gets to decide?Elrod wrote:Nah, some people would rather spout off than take the time to see if a thread already exists on the topic.C-Dawg wrote:you may want to check out this other thread...so far the CD is getting good reviews......

I guess that's ok if you're a "TRUE Parrothead" like SoILPrtHed.
I've already phoned BOTH of my sisters and told them NOT to get me any Jimmy Buffett C.D.s, books, or t-shirts again this Christmas BECAUSE I HAVE THEM ALL.citcat wrote:Know why I didn't buy the new cd ?
'Cause I'll probably be getting several for Christmas !!!!!!!!!

That happened with the Christmas cd, and Jimmy's latest book, and so on....everybody knows what a big fat Parrothead I am and so that's what they get me for presents !

Jeez, K.K., you mean you don't get that certain spine-tingling thrill of satisfaction by going to your local Best Buy or Circut City and giving your money to the smarmy-looking (and overly-insincere) baffoon behind the cash register?VanillaGrl wrote:I haven't bought it yet, I'm sure I will eventually just download it.

Honey, you don't know what you're missing out on.
Exactly how I feel Kruzin. Once he decides to pack it in (ego, money and all) this party is pretty much over - and who wants that?KruzinParrots wrote:We LOVE the new album also!! Think that it is neat to have it released at Christmas time. Am very grateful for JB's and the band continued performance. Feel very lucky to have them still with us and performing. Am anxiously anticipating the 2010 concert schedule. Am sending JB a big THANK YOU for the free concert broadcasts he gives us on Radio Margaritaville. Am glad he had been as successful as he has been. If it wasn't for that none of all the cool PH activities (including BN) that we enjoy would be here today. So yes, we feel blessed to have found JB, his music and all of our BN phriends. Our lives have been a much happier place for all of it. It is all one wave we plan to ride as long as we're blessed to have it. Hopefully it will be here for a long time to come.
