Jimmy is now imortalized in waypoints in the IFR departure procedure out of PBI (Palm Beach International). The waypoints include BUFIT, JIMEY, UTLEY, FINNS, PYRUT.
I do need to give credit where credit is due: Josh Martin originally posted this at buffett world. I thought this was such a cool thing it needed to be shared with fellow Parrot Heads esp. the other aviators here.

I notice that they *could* all be pronounced as two-syllable words as well, with the accent on the first syllable — AA-hab (long 'a'), BUF-it, PY-rut, UT-ley. So does anybody know if that is the standard or not? It would go a long way into figuring out how they pronounce some of the others, like
• UFIRD (YOU-fird)
• HEATT (HE-att)
• BRTHR (BRUH-ther) -"BB"-

Waypoints are all standardized at five letters, that's why you end up with the funny spellings. They can be pronounced with one or more syllables. BUFIT would be two; FINNS would be one.
