Getting a DEMO to Jimmy or Mailboat Records?
Does anybody know of a way to get a demo to Jimmy or Mailboat records?
My band Waverland and I do islandy music like Mr Buffett with a modern upbeat twist. We really feel Mailboat Records would be the place for us!
You can check us out at www.waverland.com
I'm sorry if this post is out of line for these forums.
Thanks,
Ryan

Given how Mailboat has been on top of releasing Coastal Confessions as well as some of the live albums yet alone Mini Matinee #2's release, I'd look somewhere else!!!
Yet alone the fact that record labels are fading very fast.

IMO any artist submitting material to anyone should have said material copyrighted. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, it just is good business.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

We have everything copyrighted and filed alreadyph4ever wrote:IMO any artist submitting material to anyone should have said material copyrighted. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, it just is good business.
But a little FYI - once something is recorded in a fixed medium it is already legally copyrighted. It doesn't need to be filed with the government. BUT - it still is always good practice to file it just incase!

Ryan,
There is a little known Genre that parrotheads follow and it is called Tropical Rock. There are several bands that mostly tour around the south promoting their island mindset music. Most are based in FL, however, there are bands all over the US including several very well known around the Midwest market. JB would help your cause, however, check out the Trop Rock scene first. Unexpectedly (and expectedly) many of these bands have played with the CRB.

Re: Getting a DEMO to Jimmy or Mailboat Records?
Mailboat Records does not look for new talent. They only look for acts that are major venue draws touring the country. (Poison, Bret Michaels, Joe Perry, Boz Scaggs, Chris Isaak, Walter Becker.)
Secondly, I don't think they would be interested in promoting someone else who does island music.
Just the honest truth. It would not be worth sending it to them.
