I wish I was there live to see Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band. During there famous live Lp "You Had To Be There". That was made in 1978. I just love this Lp by the way. It will always be one of my Buffett favorites.
I am now quoting Jimmy. "This is the band that should be doing Jimmy Buffett songs" I agree.
During the song Morris' Nightmare. Does Deborah McColl play the part of the Night Mare!!! Or is the part cleverly portrayed by a male member of the Coral Reefer Band. I hope somebody responds that was actually there!! I do believe it was in fact Deborah, just want to get the facts straight!!!

Great song! I wish he'd of put it on a studio album. A SOAS leftover possibly? Don't know about Night Mare. I always figured it was McColl.

I saw JB on the You Had To Be There/Volcano tour of '79, I was in college at the time. The venue was Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, MD.
I dont recall him doing Morris's Nightmare & dont see it on the playlist on this site. Sadly , I dont remember much from that concert, aside from the rain, the summer heat, & my date in her cut-off shorts
Thought you'd like to know this though...the tickets cost me only $6 each (lawn seats.)

Sounds very familiar. I was in college at the time too. Saw Jimmy at King's Dominion Park outside of Richmond, VA. $6.00 and a college ID got us into the park for the rides and the show. And ...... I also don't remember much of the concert itself .... couldn't tell you if he did or did not sing Morris's Nightmare (though I do remember he sang God's Own Drunk) ... I also remember Jimmy being in a leg cast from his softball mishap earlier in the concert season.baybound wrote:I saw JB on the You Had To Be There/Volcano tour of '79, I was in college at the time. And my focus was also on my date's cut-off blue jean shorts and her amply filled halter top. I was 20 at the time and she was 21. Legal drinking age for beer was 18 at the time in Virginia. I believe I had yet to learn, ummm, how to *drink in moderation*. My girl drove us back that day from Richmond back to Virginia Beach. We ended up spreading out a blanket on the beach to sleep until daybreak rather than sneak back home at 3:00am (I lived in Vah Beach, she lived in Tabb, Va. ... both of us were still living at home while in college).
I would put that day in my top 5 of all days lived.

Surfpirate...
Yes indeed, very similar circumstances & memories. I was a pretty "straight & narrow" kid, never in any real trouble. I recall sitting there on the blanket & as the show began, everyone around me started lighting up a joint as plain and openly as a cigarette. I was thinking...what the heck is going on here....
Boy was I naive back then.
But your remarks made me think of something else...
I saw a post here where some folks questioned Jimmy and losing his "peak". I dont think so, but what I do know is the guy has given me 35+ years of wonderfull memories, and even some new ones. My wife of 25 years and I just saw him at Nissan this summer...one of the best dates we've had...we still talk about it.
