Jane Buffett's mother!
I was playing around on Google this morning, and unfortunately, I came across this piece of sad news. See below.
Mrs. Slagsvol, wife of the late Thomas Marvin Slagsvol, passed away Sept. 21, 2009, in Charleston. Born in Lakeland, Fla., she was a daughter of the late William and Jane Law Norvell. She graduated Dreher High School, Class of 1948, attended the University of South Carolina and was a member of the Garden Club and St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Columbia. An avid traveler, her fondest memories were of times spent traveling throughout the Caribbean and Europe with her family. Her love for life was contagious. There was always a laugh to be shared, a story to be told and a memory to be made when Sally was in our company. Her quick smile and love for adventure was enviable.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Tom and Jennifer Slagsvol, Jane and Jimmy Buffett, Bill and Carole Slagsvol, Whit and Beth Slagsvol, Rick Slagsvol; grandchildren, Savannah, Delaney and Cameron Buffett, Will, Adam and Elle Slagsvol, Law, Sarah and Whit Slagsvol, Pierce Slagsvol.
I editted out the funeral home information since this happened a few months ago, but this was still worth posting to me.

Here we are, maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do
It's the child in us we really value
Here we are, with our fins up and our feathers flashing
Here we are, with our coconut shell brassieres chanting

This happened right before the Paris concert. Jimmy was unable to attend Jake's show because of a family matter that turned out to be his mother-in-law's death.

Yes, JoAnn, it does. She must have been loved deeply, and quite the friend to many. What a beautiful woman.Tiki Bar wrote:It sounds like she was a very special lady. Condolences to her family and friends.

Re: Jane Buffett's mother!
With as much of Jimmy's life as public as it is (by choice or not), there is a little bit of me that feels good that to most of the Parrothead world it appeared as just "a family matter". Nice to see that some part of his life can be kept private, at least for a little while. As this shows, in the information age, there is little that is not eventually known.conched wrote:It was sad to think of Jimmy having go through his loss right before our fun times.dnw wrote:This happened right before the Paris concert. Re: Jane Buffett's mother!
My sympathies also. She does sound like a wonderful lady!
With the mention of the Paris show following such a time of sorrow, it just drives home that we really don't know what's going on in JB's real life. I'm glad her passing was kept private.
