Jersey Shore
if this has been discussed already, add this to that thread. anyway, MTV has a reality show with the title of "Jersey shore" for those of you on the east coast,
you are most likely in the know about this place.
apparently, MTV put a group of young 20 somethings together n a beach house for the summer. 4 guys and 4 gals from different states. there seems to be a lot of simmering drama going on. like any one of them is ready to fight given the opportunity. the point of this is, on an episode shown 1-2-10, they showed an outside shot of the beach house. the apparent main drag thru town was shown at the top left of the screen. this must have been filmed at a time when jimmy was somewhere in the area, because i could see a vehicle towing a tiki bar.

Re: jersey shore
It's a pretty pathetic snap shot of our state and the people in it.
I hope the American Public doesn't think all of the people from New Jersey are like the "people" on the show.

Thank you - I was coming on to post the same thought! Even though I don't live there anymore I still hate to have my home state represented like that.blackjack wrote:It's a pretty pathetic snap shot of our state and the people in it.

It isn't. When I first heard about this show, I had to roll my eyes.phjrsaunt wrote:Believe me, I do NOT believe this is a true representation of the state of New Jersey.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!

Re: jersey shore
I was stationed in New Jersey twice while in the Coast Guard and spent many summers
at Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood, and Sea Isle City. People from NJ where always
pretty nice. It seems like when they casted this show (like ALL MTV reality shows) the
first question was "are you an a**hole?".

Re: Jersey Shore
Funny. I watched one episode of Jersey Shore. I liked it. Was this show supposed to be representitive of everyone who lives in the entire state of New Jersey? I don't think so. Why would anyone question that? I grew up and currently live in Boston. I don't think Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone, The Departed, the Real World Boston, or Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons are offensive. Those movies, reality show, and cartoon are not representive of everyone living in the entire state of Massachusetts. What's the problem with Jersey Shore? A bunch of young Italian kids living by the beach. Should I be offended at Jach Nicholson's horrible Boston accent in the Departed because it convey's a negative stereotype? Nope. Because I am just not that up tight.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

Re: Jersey Shore
I guess because New Jersey always seems to get such a bad rap to begin with, this show just continues to support the stereotype. I'm sure there are nice women in all those "Housewives" locations too. I do find the Dunkin Donuts commercial funny though with the 2 MA guys talking about how turn signals are a sign of weakness.drunkpirate66 wrote:Funny. I watched one episode of Jersey Shore. I'm not uptight about it, it's not like I'm losing any sleep or anything but people constantly tell me I don't have a New Jersey accent so the impression is out there already.

Re: Jersey Shore
If anyone should be embarrassed about that show it should be the Italian community.....I was listening to the kids watching TV the other day and they came across this show....they were laughing "at the Guidos" with their fake tans, 2 cans of gel hairstyles, Ed Hardy clothes and the kissy faces.....and they were talking about the guys. What a bunch of posers.
Kinda makes you feel sad for the morons....they think they are being cool while the rest of the country sees them as trainwrecks

Re: Jersey Shore
The truth is and not many of my fellow Jersey Resident's are going to like it or even agree, the show is a true representation of Seaside Heights/Park... The scum of New York and North Jersey vacation there each summer, mostly the type you see on this show. Wildwood is the same way, the scum of South Philly flock there each summer. Don't get me wrong I live a few islands north of Wildwood and will take a day trip there to go on the rides with the children but I couldn't imagine spending a dime to live there for a week in the summer then again I'm 3 blocks from the beach but if I wasn't, there are so many nicer communities; Margate, Longport, Long Beach Island, Avalon, Stone Harbor, etc...
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do So throw off the bowlines Sail away from the safe harbor Catch the trade winds in your sails Explore Dream Discover
