Now it's Rum!

If it's as good as the tequila, beer and shrimp, it's only worthy of pouring down the drain. Don't waste your $.

Considering you began your post with "If", I take it you haven't tried it. Why the hate for something you haven't tried yet?
Life's too short Dude...take a deep breath, pour yourself a drink, and relax.

It's truly not bad tasting rum, and I am a rum aficionado. It's not a great rum, but I don't expect it to be priced like a great rum either. The dark is a touch boring for sipping, but it is undoubtedly smooth enough to sip. Personally, I would take it over any Pyrat product I've tried (I have not tried the 1623) or Angostura 1919 for sipping. If you're expecting old Zaya, you'll be disappointed, but if you expect it to be on the level with the tequila, you'll get a fantastic surprise. We usually have about 20 rums in our home bar, and once it's available, it will be what we reach for to serve a novice rum/hard alcohol drinker.

If someone would make a vanilla rhum that tastes like Ma Doudou I'd buy it in bulk. I know you can make your own but it really depends on what you start with and I'm lazy.

I had the spiced rum in Key West at MOTM; it was kinda nice. A bit smoother than the Captain, with its own interesting flavor.
I expect I'll try the dark rum when it's available. The price/quality ratio will determine whether I buy a second bottle or not.
The tequila isn't bad for mixing. I don't really have a preference between it and Cuervo, except for "whichever one is a dollar cheaper this time."
Landshark Beer = shark p33.
I'm not much of a shrimp eater, but the M'ville stuff wasn't bad, the time or two I had it.

The tequila is okay (the Margaritaville mix is much better), the shrimp is decent, the tortilla chips taste like tortilla chips, and the Landshark beer absolutely blows. (I use the term "blows" because I'm not allowed to say S.U.C.K.S.).
I haven't tried the rum, so I guess I'd better buy me a bottle. After all, Jimmy really needs my $18.50

I'll try the rum just like I'd try any new product. Then I'll decide based on taste and cost whether I buy it again or not. Hating (or loving) a product you haven't tried based solely on brand name is kinda stupid.
