Is is still a "Major League Record" if it happened against the Cubs?
Cub fan here
Yes, it is.
And I grew up with the Cubs.. the Santo, Kessinger, Beckert, Banks, Hundley, Monday, Morales etc., were MY team.. so this is kinda bittersweet. We'll be at tonights game.

Dodgers get Lilly, Theriot for DeWitt
Pair of right-handed pitching prospects headed to Cubs
07/31/10 8:18 PM ET
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Dodgers acquired veteran left-handed starting pitcher Ted Lilly, infielder Ryan Theriot and $2.5 million from the Cubs on Saturday for second baseman Blake DeWitt and Minor Leaguers Kyle Smit and Brett Wallach.
Westbrook to Cards; Ludwick to Padres
Indians receive Double-A righty Kluber in three-team trade
07/31/10 7:25 PM ET
CLEVELAND -- The Cardinals improved their rotation and the Padres boosted their batting order for the stretch run, while the Indians pulled in another prospect as part of their rebuilding process.
The three teams pulled off a swap mere hours before Saturday's 4 p.m. ET Trade Deadline, as the Indians sent veteran right-hander Jake Westbrook and cash to the Cardinals, who sent outfielder Ryan Ludwick to the Padres. To complete the deal, the Padres sent Double-A right-hander Corey Kluber to the Tribe and Class A left-hander Nick Greenwood to the Cards.

Berkman, Wood, Kearns add veteran talent to stacked roster
07/31/10 6:45 PM ET
ST. PETERSBURG -- The Yankees pulled the trigger on three moves before the dealing was done on Saturday, adding sluggers Lance Berkman and Austin Kearns before completing a late transaction to bring in right-hander Kerry Wood.
Though the acquisition of Berkman from the Astros actually transpired first, it could not be announced until Saturday because the slugger had to agree to the trade due to his 10-and-5 rights, having owned at least 10 years in the Majors and at least five with the same club.
Alex Rodriguez hit his 600th home run in the bottom of the first inning this afternoon. Now maybe the sportswriters in NY will write about something else for a few days.

Way to go A-Rod. As a Yankees fan I don't like that Barry Bonds is considered the best steroid home run hitter - go get that record.

As a Phillies fan I know only too well that many seasons in my lifetime the Phillies had better golfers on it than ball players

My lowly Orioles just took 2 of 3 from both Tampa Bay (at home) and the Yankees (on the road). If it hadn't been for Nick Swisher's 2-run walk-off HR in the bottom of the 9th in Wednesday's game, it would have been the O's first sweep in New York in 24 years......
At least since Buck Showalter took over as manager these guys are giving it their all and actually fun to watch......I guess it took as an ex-Yankee to turn the club around!
The way they're playing now Baltimore may have a real impact on who goes to the postseason.....I hate the term "spoiler", but after suffering through so many losing seasons I'll take whatever bright spot I can!
