I've never set foot in one in a cold weather location, or a casino.....and come to think of it, I don't have any ambition to do so.
just saw this thread, and looking around, three of the last ones to open are up north, all since Vegas (with the exception of the one in Phoenix) seem connected to casinos, and most have little or no tangible connection to Buffett's history.
For the people really far up north, it would be nice to have one closer. Otherwise, most of us may never get to see a Margaritaville at all. As for it losing it's tropical feel, a Margaritaville up here would make me feel warmer and more tropical than any of the other venues we have. Jimmy, you're welcome to have a Margaritaville in our climate ANYTIME!
If I'm in the tropics, I don't need overpriced food, drinks and a themed restaurant to make me feel tropical. However, in colder climates it gives you a chance to pretend you're someplace else...

No offense to our canadian friends I love ya, but I wouldnt like the idea of a margaritaville michigan either.....unless it was on Mack Island or something
Perhaps it might've had something to do with the fact that Jimmy's grandfather (The Captain of the Kid & the Sailor of a Son of a Son of a) was Canadian.
Don't want to go through Detroit City,
Customs there they hassle me!

I told him just cause you put horse p*** into a Patron bottle, it does not make it Patron. He did not like hearing that at all. Needless to say: NEVER AGAIN...
To my knowledge, it is illegal to refill a liquor bottle, even if it is being refilled with the same liquor. The NV state liquor board might be interested in learning about this, if there was some verifiable evidence.
And if they are refilling it with something other than what it's labelled, they will MOST DEFINITELY be interested in hearing about this. -"BB"-
it is illegal to merry liquors or wines , and can be a hefty fine if caught!!!!...is it done..yes!!!!....mostly to condense bottles!!!!.....switching one type of liquor into a another , that i've never seen.

Well I think a Cafe in the DC area is possible. National Harbor is in MD and the state just approved table gambling in addition to the slots they already have. It would be a perfect spot for a Margaritaville Cafe and Casino. It's just off the Woodrow Wilson Bridge...very easy access and easy to get to the airport too.
As for Charleston SC, I don't see it. Charleston has so many amazing restaurants. The food in the Cafe is not that good. And besides, no need to pretend you're in paradise....you're in it!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

I'm not saying I never will but so far I've never entered any of the Margaritaville locations. Purchased stuff from the store? Yes but set foot in one of the actual locations? No.

Would be nice. I fail to see why the Bay area doesn't have one when so many other locations not near a major body of water already have them.
I hit the one in Vegas when we're in town but since I don't drink it usually consists of the wife and daughters getting a frozen boat drink and maybe lunch if we are still well funded after gambling. I just look at it like Disneyland. It's a tangible (and phony) extension a a philosophy espoused by an entertainer not to be taken for more than a few hours of distraction.
