Jimmy Buffett quote on his Margaritaville Cafes

I hope you all enjoy this educational and entertaining quote directly from Mr. Buffett.
"I don't want them every mile in America. I don't need the money, so I don't want a cash cow out there."
-Jimmy Buffett to Vernon Silver of the
New York Times.
With that said, I've always loved the conch fritters.

I like your use of the word "yet."
I must say, Margaritaville Holdings should open a Margaritaville Cafe in Atlanta, Georgia.
1. The very FIRST Parrot Head Club--Atlanta 20 years ago.
2. PHIP's first president--Atlanta.
3. The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show--Atlanta (the only one Jimmy himself officially "sanctioned")
4. His lawyers at Greenberg Traurig--Atlanta.

I'm still trying to figure out why the DC/Baltimore area doesn't have one.

DC doesn't have a casino. On the other hand... Detroit could be good.

I thought this might be of interest ... I dug out an old paper copy of a 1987 issue of the Coconut Telegraph, which had an article on the original Margaritaville Key West Store moving to it's *new* location on Duval Street .... and Jimmy's *exciting* news that he would soon be opening a Margaritaville Restaurant (not yet named a Cafe) right next door to the store! The menu would include Jimmy's grandmother's *secret potato salad* recipe.
I don't remember the original store at it's Land's End Village location, though I was in Key West apparently while it was located there. I do however remember going into the Duval Street Store several times before the restaurant opened. The photo of Jimmy and I in my signature was taken in 1989 outside of the Duval Street Store ... back in the days when Jimmy could still be spotted occasionally walking to and from an office up on the 2nd floor of the building where the Cafe/Store are located.

There are way too many now. Key West, New Orleans, and maybe Myrtle Beach is enough.

I would be fine seeing the one in MB close to open a restaraunt/store in downtown Charleston. It's a pirate town!

We do't think there are to many Margaritaville Cafes yet. We would love to see one in Baltimore.
We're also looking forward to the one that is rumored to be opening in a couple years at Niagara Falls Canada.
We love the restaurant and enjoy being there. We've NEVER had bad food or bad service at any of them. We would much rather spend our time and money there than in most other places.
We're not saying that the chain in perfect. Nor
do we have this positive opinion because we are JB phans. What we are saying is that in the many
cafes we've been in we've been very satisfied customers.
In fact, the first Margaritaville we visited was in New Orleans. That day the restaurant and store was busy but yet the waiters/waitresses were so friendly and made us feel right at home that we wanted to come back before we even tasted the food. Then we our order arrived it was delicious.
The experience we had at the cafe in Key West was the same. Outstanding friendly service. No problems with any of our orders.
All of the locations we've been in have been well maintained. We've never been in one that was dirty, or had tables or chairs that needed repaired.
We also like the fact that there is a good
managerial presence in the fact that a manager is always seen and takes the time to interact with the customers.
We plane to visit several locations this years. Hopefully we've a couple more open here on the east coast.

Stopped into M-ville in Vegas on our way down to the Fiesta Bowl last Friday. 5 landsharks 5 shots of Patron: $75. OK, it is Patron. The thing is, they poured s*** tequila into a Patron bottle. I called the bartender on it. Denial. Called the manager on it. I told him just cause you put horse p*** into a Patron bottle, it does not make it Patron. He did not like hearing that at all. Needless to say: NEVER AGAIN...

I remember years passed when they were talking of opening them in Boston, Mass and Miami, Florida. The Miami one makes sense.

To my knowledge, it is illegal to refill a liquor bottle, even if it is being refilled with the same liquor. The NV state liquor board might be interested in learning about this, if there was some verifiable evidence.
And if they are refilling it with something other than what it's labelled, they will
MOST DEFINITELY be interested in hearing about this.

Maybe they ran out of Patron and the bartender was the one that screwed this up because they couldn't tell one brand of tequila from another and figured no one else could either?
(In Vegas they're "cutting costs" across the board so it wouldn't suprise me if they attempted to swtich....)

Why would NY state liquor board care what goes on in LV Nevada? They have no jurisdiction there.
