A little slow on the draw, but tickets bought. Now for the airfare. Any suggestions on a hotel.

Oh yeah..... count us (2) in on the BBQ and tailgate.

Looking forward to meeting to everyone.

If you'd like to stay near the Amway Arena, try: http://amwayarena.stadiumhotelnetwork.com/
The Arena is in the heart of downtown Orlando. Just as a caution... West of I-4 is a little less desirable than East of I-4.
Downtown and less than a mile away: Grand Bohemian, Downtown Sheraton, Downtown Marriott. Hotels in the Universal Studios area are 6-7 miles away. Hotels near the airport are 14-15 miles and about a 20 minute drive.
My suggestion? Choose the Universal area so that you can hit the Margaritaville in Universal City Walk and the concert.
Hope this helps!

Looking forward to seeing you!

I agree with these suggestions. Unless you're going to stay at the Marriott that is right next to the Amway Arena, I'd go with the route of staying in the Universal area. It's a close drive and most of the hotels there have shuttles that run to Universal. Also, there are restaurants that are close and you're also right across the street basically from Universal Citywalk that has Margaritaville.

I have stayed at the Hyatt Place Universal. It's a decent hotel with nice rooms, 40 inch LCD TVs, complimentary breakfasts, shuttles to Universal, and the rates are usually under $100 a night. The Homewood Suites Universal is also close and I think they also have a shuttle. There are rooms at that hotel that do face I-4, so you might want to pick the side of the hotel that isn't for your room.

Hope these suggestions help.

I know there have been some others that have stayed at that Travelodge, but it's not in the greatest area and it's not within walking distance. Take it this way. The Travelodge was the hotel my friends' band would stay at when they played at The Social in downtown Orlando. The partying would go on till about 4-5 a.m. and there were some characters who made their rounds at that hotel including some ladies of the night. The rooms open to the outside. Take all that for what it's worth. That's just been my experience there.

The Marriott is the only one that is within walking distance and I've always found the Embassy Suites and Courtyard prices to be inflated. Plus, you won't be able to walk from there. I think the .8 miles is not 100% accurate, but walking through downtown Orlando and right by the Police station is not something I'd recommend.
