I've been in Florida for 5 years and spent my first day in the Sunshine State meeting Evel Knievel in the morning in Clearwater and going to see Jimmy in Tampa that day... I never actually made it into the show because I got separated from my sober nephew and didn't think it through and he had both tickets, but it was still one of the greatest days of my life. I'm a New England transplant and miss the Great Woods Labor Day weekend shows because that was like the Parrothead Super Bowl. We live in Cocoa and have a hotel reserved the night before and are looking forward to meeting a crew of like minded people. This is my 14th or 15th show and the wife's third, but this is our first indoor show. We've always been on the lawn, but she didn't want nosebleeds cuz she is prone to vertigo so we've got great seats.

We're seeing the last show on the Summerzcool tour and just got tickets for the first stop Under the Big Top in Tampa so I am one happy parrothead right now. We've sent our contact info to Steve and are looking forward to meeting a bunch of like minded people for my all time favorite day of any year. We're gonna spend the day figuring out how to get the double wide hammock and stand onto the car because there's nothing cooler than laying in a hammock at a Buffett show. I'm done rambling - T minus 6 days and counting

Anybody know if the parking lot is dirt/grass or paved? The wife hated waiting in ridiculously long lines to use a stinky port-a-potty at her first show, so we added a portable camping toilet and a privacy tent to our party gear. We are wondering if we will be able to stake it into the dirt or will need to figure out some other way to keep it in place if the lot is paved in case it is a windy day. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Could you do this (the private toilet tent)? I know in a couple of areas, people have gotten in trouble for that.

I did it in Tampa and didn't have a problem with my "privacy tent"... the camping toilet which, umm, doesn't even exist, of course, would be a non-chemical self contained unit if it did and we would put it in the trunk and take it home with us so we wouldn't be violating any environmental rules by dumping it in the parking lot because that would be just plain rude and stupid... if there's a foolish regulation against having one then that would be one ridiculous rule and it's nothing i've ever heard about...

the most brilliant tailgating toilet maneuver I've ever seen was a guy at Great Woods, back when it was still actually called Great Woods and the show was always on Labor Day weekend.... in fact, it was called Great Woods because it is surrounded by actual woods so both men AND women would simply wander, or stumble, deep enough into the woods to be out of sight to do the same thing animals do there every day.... anyway, this truly brilliant New England redneck brought his own construction site porta-potty in the back of his pickup truck with a big plywood sign that had "Flash to Flush" painted on it... drunk women were coming up non-stop and flashing to use it instead of waiting forty five minutes in line... when we saw the Flash to Flush truck my friend and I went back to our car and got our cooler of ice cold beer and a couple of chairs and plopped ourselves down next to the truck to enjoy the free show...

the way I see it, if there is some ridiculous rule agains it the worst that could happen would be some bureaucratic dweeb would figure it out and tell us it's not allowed and we'd take it apart and put it in the trunk... it's not like we're cutting into anybody's profit margin by making the call of nature a little easier.... as a guy all I need is an empty Gator Ade bottle and a beach towel to be discrete and I can take care of things in the car, but women don't have it quite so easy... at any rate, all I'm doing is setting up a privacy tent so my wife and the parakeets can change clothes if they need to... that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Less than a week, woohoo!

I'm still in Germany for work but get home Tuesday. Then it's time to do laundry, repack my bags and head on down to FLA!

Orlando then coming down for this one. Hotel - done. Tickets = ?????. If I can find some cheap ones great. If will come for the tailgate and hang out. It's more about the people I've met here. Can't wait!!!!

Ok.... my plans after the concert has changed.... I am staying in Florida until the 3rd and the friend I am visiting will be busy from the 28th through the day I leave and I can't visit them. I was thinking of going down to the Keys, anyone interested?
